Nominate your favorite TTRPG podcast of 2022

As December's end approaches, it's that time of year again -- where we take nominations for your favourite TTRPG podcast of the year!

rpg_podcast.jpg

Every year on the Morrus' Unofficial Tabletop RPG Talk podcast, along with this website, we hold a giant poll to find out what are the most favourite tabletop RPG podcasts of the year. The voting is divided into two categories -- TALK, and ACTUAL PLAY -- and each years, two podcasts win and enter the HALL OF FAME. Once a podcast has entered the Hall of Fame, it is no longer eligible in future years.

ACTUAL PLAY podcasts are podcasts where the podcasters play an actual tabletop RPG for your listening enjoyment. TALK podcasts include interviews, reviews, discussion, opinion, advice and news.

Here are last year's winners -- Miskatonic University Podcast, and Sweden Rolls. Who will take the crown and join the Hall of Fame for 2022?

How To Nominate
  • Post your nomination as a reply to this thread.
  • One nomination per person per category.
  • Must have released at least 3 new episodes in 2022.
  • Include the podcast name (be accurate) -- and a LINK to the show's website. If I have to search for it I’ll just move on! No linky, no nommy.
  • Note which category your nomination is in -- ACTUAL PLAY or TALK.
  • PODCASTS, not YouTube channels or Twitch streams.
  • It cannot be your podcast or one you are involved with.
  • Its primary focus must be tabletop roleplaying games.
  • If a group puts out multiple podcasts, they are combined into one nomination.
  • Those which have won before are not eligible.
  • Please say why, as we read those comment out on the show.
Nominations will be open until Friday December 30th. After that the shows will be put to the public vote and the winners announced on the Morrus' Unofficial Tabletop RPG Talk podcast.

Be sure to follow the above rules. I’ll only be compiling valid nominations which do so!

In the actual play category, I'd like to nominate Quest Fantastic. They are a new show this year, and they have a great group of unique and chaotic characters that manage to both create a fun comedic show, but also push the story ahead without dragging things out.

The RPGBOT.Podcast is a great podcast in the TALK category. Discusses topics with a deep, analytical focus. They really hash things out and the hosts don't always agree which can lead to great discussions on the finer details.

I'll nominate Dungeons and Daddies (actual play) which is by far the funniest podcast I've ever listened to (although it can get pretty serious and emotional when the story calls for it) and one of the few podcasts I've managed to actually finish a full season of! The premise alone is hysterical as it follows four regular Dads from our world being flung into the Forgotten Realms via a portal to rescue their lost sons.

Go for The Danger Club Podcast! They're for the ACTUAL PLAY category. They're a group of performers who are hilarious and infuse their characters with distinct and consistent and just gut-bustingly funny personalities, and their Game Master ads into the jollity without skipping a beat.

I nominate the No Quest for the Wicked Podcast for the actual play podcast category.

No Quest

They are an excellent Starfinder actual play podcast that I have listened to since their first episode premiered last December.

For the Talk category, I nominate The Palmer Files podcast.

The Palmer Files

This is an intriguing conversational podcast where the host chats to a variety of people about various topics from authors and musicians to producers and teachers.

Actual play Spout Lore, a comedy Story Now Dungeon World game of three misfit characters making a family together as they adventure in a rich, sometimes slapstick world. Two professional improv comedians and their also-hilarious friends.

I nominate The Lucky Die, an Actual Play Podcast by Blighthouse Studio that you can find here: The Lucky Die
It's a tremendous story, a great setting and the team behind are just fantastic fun to listen to. The apocalyptic plot is gripping and the characters have been through a lot. Also, it's great that they have the old UA Mystic class which was never really developed in 5e. Many of the podcasters involved also appear in other shows like Dark Dice and The White Vault.
