Nostalgic for basic D&D or AD&D?

Do you have a link to Gary officially endorsing C&C?

Just curious. Obviously, he worked on material for TLG that was ported to C&C, and before that, D&D 3.0.

I don't know of one of the top of my head. I know the same threads Merric refers to also contain posts by Gary saying he supports C&C. As for an official "I support and endorse C&C!" statement by him somewhere? I don't know of one.

I'm absolutely not "nostalgic" for old school D&D. I currently play old school D&D. I'm desiging a campaign for OD&D. I'm playing in a Mentzer Classic campaign... not out of nostalgia, but out of preference.

I find that old school D&D delivers a superior play experience. Sentimental feelings are not required.

Well, once we get back it isn't sentimental anymore. Its pure gaming goodness.

For the last 12 months or so we've been mad-keen on OD&D(1974) and bD&D. We still have our regular 3.5 game running as well.

The OD&D and bD&D games have been pure, unadulterated fun. Quick and deadly, just the way we like it. And they're both bliss to DM.

Speaking for myself, you can only get that stuff in PDF or second hand from ebay or the like. I actually enjoy C&C because it is in print, has new material coming out and feels close enough to AD&D that it's comfortable but with innovations I enjoy. YMMV of course

That's a surprise. I've got many local shops around here that have plenty of the 1e books and occasionally older stuff on their shelves. But even going to e-bay or the local trade threads I've seen good quality used items. If people want them in print they can still get them. :D

Same here, though more than likely you'll find the 1e books at one of the used book stores around here. Online, Noble Knight Games is the place I would look if you want mint, near mint, etc. 1e books (though the price does get steep on a few of those).
