Drow High Magic feat mostly, and low level Sorcerer or Warlock or Bard spells.

The Wizard spells are ideal for using with a low Intelligence - Shield, Protection from Evil and Good, Find Familiar, Feather Fall ..... and they don't scale fast enough on an EK to use effectively in combat. Finally you are limited to 2 Fighter Cantrips (until 10th level). On a high Intelligence character that is going to be Truestrike and Bladeward giving you nothing for utility. Putting a multiclass in there allows you to get Truestrike and Green Flame Blade and two more (minor illusion, Resistance ...) on the multiclass, and get Mage Hand or Prestidigitation on the Fighter in addition to Blade Ward.

Moreover Charisma is just a better ability, tieing to the entire social pillar. People on this board complain all the time above fighters being one-dimensional and not being able to contribute in the other pillars. The changes to this subclass encourage this.

So, you just want to be able to do everything.

Melee - Fighter.
Utility - EK.
Social and Better Spells - Cha Multiclass.

Thats (imo) not how the game should work at all.

Already exists. Bards, warlocks, paladins and some silly Sorcerer builds.

There's a reason why charisma classes are popular.

Sure, but Bards, Warlocks, and Paladins are a step below Fighter in the Melee world, or at least should be (looking at you UA Warlock!) in terms of the old 'Arms and Armour' proficiency.

That Wizards has screwed up a bunch of things, doesnt mean that its the way it should be.

It can work that way with a variety of single-class Wizard, Sorcerer, Warlock and Bard single class builds and the 2024 Valor Bard subclass and Truestrike Cantrip make it work BETTER for those classes.

Those classes all have the same access to Armour, Fighting Styles, Weapon Mastery, and so on?

A Bladesinger optimized for melee will mop the floor with a Fighter at most levels, even using the 2024 rules.

I would say a 2024 Valor or 2014 Swords Bard and 2024 Warlock if optimized specifically for melee are pretty comparable to a fighter using 2024 rules.

The issue here is by Gimping the fighter you are actually making these BETTER in comparison.

Well they do, through feats, even without taking a 1-level Figther dip.

Moreover though they don't need it. They have melee-oriented spells, which are better than those things.

Edit: Example - Defense Fighting Style gives you a +1 to AC. Shield spell gives you a +5 for a round, Mirror Image gives you a bunch of duplicates with your AC and Protection from Good and Evil gives a lot of enemies disadvantage.

Those are 1st and 2nd level spells!

That was the theory.

Depends if you're talking about nova, white room or a real campaign.

2024 I'm not convinced but I'll get back to you.
