[Not Running]-Morbid Mystery-[Not Running]

First Post
Yeah, the name sucks, but it's all I could come up with.

Okay, so this will be my first time ever pbping, and also my first homebrewed mystery/horror game, but I've done a lot of preparation and made sure it's as mysterious and horrific as I can make it. So, anyway, on to the premise.

Several friends decide to vacation to Gruffwood, Texas, a small town that is very reminiscent of the wild west. Upon arriving, things seem alright even if the townspeople are a bit unkind to strangers. They decide to stay in a hotel for the week that they're vacationing.
It would just so happen that the innkeeper of that hotel is kidnapped in the middle of the night, leaving behind only blood stains, and the town sheriff seems to think that the tourists have something to do with this.
Ordered to remain in town until all of this is sorted out, and suspected by all of the townspeople, the heroes are forced to figure this out for themselves since it seems that the sheriff is less than willing to do that for them.

That's the basic plot for you. And sure, it may not sound very horrific, but the story will take several turns through the course of the game, most of them for the worst. As for number of players, 4 or 5 would be great. The game will be using the Invisible Castle dice program and the stats will be rolled for with that program (unless you'd rather use your own dice for that bit). Characters may be of any age, color, and background, and all PCs will be friends from the beginning of the game.

If there are any more questions, I'll answer them.

Since all the characters are friends would you like to set a general age group(college kids or old folks on there first group retirement vaction) a general recent background(like what city they live in, etc.)

Or would you like the possible PC's to brainstorm

And the name could be worse, it could be [edited out so no one yells at me]

Brainstorming works for me, but college kids would be closer to what I'm looking for. But old folks would make for quite an interesting (and short) campaign, now that I think about it. ;)

If this game gets off the ground, I'd probly play a wordy executive type, Charismatic Hero

On a vaction with his friends before he starts his first big job

Of course this is just a possiblity

Yes...
A few tips

1. Biggest problem, is confidence, weather you have it or not, ACT like you have it
2. Talking about how often you'll post
3. Mention your GM credentials if you have any
4. post more info on the game and less on opining plot hook(it's not much of a hook if the fish see it coming)
5. Make something about the game uniqe to yourself(rules or world)
4. Talk about the feel of the game(Horror...good, Now is it RP heavy or Combat Heavy?
6. No self-depriciating humor till people know you(see point 1)

Thanks for the tips :) . I got confidence, definitely. As for credentials. . .I've GMed a few games in my neighborhood (homebrew Modern games). As for the game, it'll be RP heavy with lots of investigating, interrogating, along with some good combat points. And finally, as for the self-depreciating humor. . .no excuse. Anyway, just ask for more info if that wasn't enough, because like I said, this'll be my first pbp game so I'm not quite sure everything I gotta provide.

Now, THE BIGGEST TIP YET!

Put recruiting in the title and category, Now that I look back I'm not sure why I even look in this thread, but I can garentee you'll get more aplicants if you tell people that you are recruiting, (where they can see it!)
