[Nova Wars] A Few Weapons

Ralts Bloodthorne

First Post
OK, I was sitting down last night and playing with the weapons from my Nova Wars campaign, and figured it might be time to place some here. If you remember, Nova Wars is more Space Opera than gritty realism, so the science is more gobbledygook than anything realistic.

Having said that: Enjoy.

Krevak M-68 Sniper Rifle
The Krevak M-68 Sniper Rifle is the standard sniper rifle used by the Confederate Marine Corps. Having passed over two decades of hard usage in nearly every environment, the M-68 has managed to slip over to the civilian side via "Colony Protective Weaponry" legislation.

A linear accellerator that uses "spun" electrons to bring a slug of metal up to almost .7C, the M-68's munition liberates most of it's kinetic energy in a tight cone in order to penetrate armor and put down the enemy in a single shot. With the patented Krevak "Shiv" scope, which first identifies the armor being worn by the enemy, and then alerts the operator to weaknesses in the armor, devestating hits are only a trigger pull away.

MAW 1919
Produced by Syntek Industries for the Terran Marines for over two decades the MAW has been the infantry weapon of choice for everyone from orbital insertion shock troops to planetary police forces. Recently, a bill passed through the Confederate Congress made the smaller, lighter version rejected for military service available to the public.

By using a nano-creation engine at the base of a short hopper, the MAW 1919 can be fed with nearly any solid material to make the hyper-dense neutronium slugs that the magnetic accellerator requires, the old requirement of stacks of ammunition being needed is negated. With an integral scope, and a force-lance bayonet, this weapon is ideal for hazardous environment colonies.

Close Quarters Combat Lance
Based on the variable density baton used by most Confederate law enforcement agencies, the CQCL is carried by the majority of Confederate armed forces for up close and dirty fighting in urban territory.

During the search for a usable melee combat weapon to arm the Confederate military with, most companies attempted to make one weapon that performed a multitude of functions. However, Baize Industries offered up a single usage, simple weapon that was easy to maintain, easy to train on, and performed admirably under all of the required atmospheres and stress tests.

The CQCL is a simple 18" baton that can be used in close quarters as a blundgeoning device. However, with the turn of the wrist it extends outward and becomes enclosed by a light duty forcefield. In this position it is 6' long, and can be used with one or both hands for use as a combat staff or as a lever to pry at wreckage/obstacles.

Cryobaton
With the ease of aquiring biomods, cybernetics, and genetweaks, the problem for police forces was how to bring in law breakers without beating them to death. Normally, the Confederate Courts had no problem interrogating a mental engram download on the crimes, but a public outcry against the possible lethalness led to the Confederate Law Enforcement Association desiring a weapon that could be used with greater effect that also provided safety to the arrestee.

Enter Biaze Industries first foray into the weapons market. The Cryobaton. A force field shielded baton based on the old Terran tonfa design, the baton draws its energy by leeching the heat from nearby objects, or objects struck. THis had the advantage of lessening the opponents ability to move, as well as shut down cybernetics and offset genetweaks and biomods.

These weapons, at first, were available only to liscensed Law Enforcement officials. But with the Bounty Hunter Act of 3412, the Cryobaton was made avialable to all liscensed personel.

Quick request: A 'Dirty Harry' style sidearm or a holdout weapon. Somthing for those who expect fights at short range, and need to get a sure kill with just one or two shots. Maybe an SMG equivelent for corridor or city fighting. I know that the CMC doesn't embrace that style of fight, and that they prefer to just burn 99% of rebelious populations, but there are always going to be needs for Close range weapons that a combat lance or cryobaton just won't fullfill.

If it can wait till Monday, I can do up the close range weapons.

Hypervelocity shotguns, mag-pulse SMG's, the whole close combat/tunners/boarding party equipment.

These weapons were built using the Weapons & Armor Construction sheet

LI-359 12 guage
The Legacy Industries premeire close quarters weapon is based off of the 20th Century weapon known as a "shotgun". While it can operate in non-hypervelocity mode in the case of thin skin buildings, many shipboard security elements of trading companies across the Confederacy use this weapon as the ammunition used will not penetrate even Rating I hull plating.

Cheap, effective, and able to be used as a club in close quarters combat, the heavy duty version, made entirely of study alloys, can be used by cyborgs. All that is different between the LI=359 and the LI-359c is weight. (The LI-359c weighs in at 75 lbs)

Mdm Rifle, Autofire Module, Autosight, Ballistic Improvement (Gyroject, Needle, Razor), Hyervelocity Conversion (x4), Variable Ammunition II (Gyroject, Needle, Razor).

Confederate Marines Boarding Weapons
The Confederate Marine Corps is often tasked with boarding enemy ships, from pirate held vessels to those who have disobeys interdictions, to G’Tak scouting vessels. The logistics of shipboard combat restrict the use of the standard CMC MAW, instead requiring specific weapons designed not to blow through hull plates.

CMC-415
The CMC-415 is a small, handheld submachine gun designed for combat in tight spaces, such as hives, urban combat, and shipboard combat. The CMC-415 packs frangible rounds that do no damage to objects with a hardness of 2 or greater. However, the setting may be switched off to give the user the ability to penetrate armor. The CMC-415 has the burst fire setting, which fires off 3 rounds per trigger pull.

Bloodthorne Industries BIT-348
The BIT-348 was the initial techno-organic submachine gun built by the weapons conglomerate. However, the first shipment of 1,500,000 of these weapons were lost in shipping transit over 10 years ago. However, two years ago freelancers found the cargo vessel that these weapons were aboard, and have sold these weapons on the black market.
Originally intended for use by Bloodthorne Industries security forces, this weapon is known for the heavy firepower it can put out.

Baize Industries Red Dwarf Machine Pistol
A weapon design from Cygnus Industries, the Red Dwarf was turned down by most militaries and private military contractors when Cygnus Industries originally tried to market the weapon. Baize Industries payed less than 5 MegaCredits for the Creation Engine specifications for this weapon, and marketed it out to low-G worlds and space stations for defense.
It’s heavy damage and high rate of fire, without the high penetration of modern weapons, makes this an optimum shipboard weapon as well as space stations.
