I remember having to pull out a disassembler and patch the timing loop in games like Pool of Radiance because running them on a 486DX4 they went WAAAAAY too fast, even with their speed delays set to max! I can't imagine what they would be like on a modern machine!

Of course, games nowadays use the hardware timers in the machine so it's not an issue, but in the old days they just had delay loops built in...
