[OC8] Issue #1: Opening Day

"G'day."
Jonathan nods at the Lieutenant. He had heard of his exploits, who hadn't. But personally he thought that the legend had grown as it was being told.

"Lt. Stevens, it's an honor. I'm sure having one of your skill and rep will be a big help to those of us starting out," Brandon says as he continues to keep his distance from everyone.

"A baseball gig, huh? I love baseball, but my sport was football." Brandon comments. Well, that's a life I'll never get to live now.

"Well, I'm glad at least some of you enjoy baseball," Stevens said, with a smile towards Anh. "Our presence has been requested at this Sunday's Angel game. Assuming things go as planned, hopefully you'll get to catch a good game."

Taking a look around the room, Stevens noted the empty chairs. "Just to let you know that I can count, I realize there's only five of the OC8 here now. The other three... I have a hunch where one is, and another is in the shop. The last member was still up in the air last I heard."

"We've got a couple minutes before our conference call, if you have an quick questions."

"All part of what the lab boys did to me back in World War II," Stevens replied. "I work out several hours a day still, of course, but it's their work that's lets me do that."

Brandon will head back to the seat he was in before (having cooled) and sit down. Thinking on Lt. Stevens, Brandon is just hoping he looks that good whe he gets to that age. Crap, he just hopes he lives to that age.

"Sir, are you one of the Orange Count Eight? And, are we going to have some of the cool gear that the LA team has?" Brandon eagerly asks?

"That actually hasn't been determined, son," the veteran replied. "It depends on the way the roster fills out. The Powers That Be wanted the snappy name, but some of the potential recruits have been held up. They've already started selling T-shirts on Main Street, USA, so I think I will be one of the Eight if needed, just for the sake of the name. I still won't be going on missions with you."

Stevens continued, "I'm pretty sure you'll have access to some good equipment, but I don't know if we'll be able to swing the orbital vehicle the Hollywood Heros have."

"T-shirts?" Anh echoed staring at Lt. Liberty. "We're not going to have...to do some...publicity things, are we? I thought we were just there to...uh...fight crime and preserve the Orange County way of life." Maybe it was a bad idea to join the OC8 after all. She only did because her father insisted, and her mother...she would have wanted it. Responsibilties come with power they always said. Yeah...whatever.

Snapping out of his thoughts, Bruce speaks up at Anh's words.

"I agree with Miss Nguyen. I joined this team to protect the people, not to act as some kind of ... publicity stunt."

"Don't worry folks," Stevens replied. "Your job is to protect people. The T-shirts and such are just a way for Disney to fund Brandon's neat gadgets - we might get that orbital vehicle some day!"

OOC: The meeting will move forward at Noon PST Tuesday, whether I get the other PC's or not. They'll have a chance to join up after the meeting.
