People in charge of syndication hate serialized shows. Writers of serialized shows hate the people in charge of syndication. The writers of LOST must be doing something right to have the raitings they do. The syndication people must be doing somehing right to get the networks the money they do.

The "7 weeks on, 13 weeks off, 16 weeks on" scheme is odd - I've never really heard of anything like it - but hands down it beats the insanely choppy way shows are normally handled. Though I am surprised they don't do something like 4 weeks on, 8 weeks off, 15 weeks on...

I still say Charlie dies. Horribly.

"Lost" did lose a chunk of it's audience in season two... but it was mostly over the (legitimate) complaints about the show constantly being interuppted with repeats

People being impatient makes it a legitimate complaint? It wasn't constantly interupted with repeats. They did the same things as almost every other show does.

Of course I find this amusing because of the many complaints I have about the show, this is not one of them. :D

That makes sense, as much as I hate it. Starting Oct 4th, 7 weeks takes you through the Nov sweeps right up to Thanksgiving. 13 weeks off takes you though Dec, Jan, and into Feb. sweeps. Then 16 more weeks takes you through May.

Aye. Plus the producers/writers have said that their story arc was already more-or-less built that way, even before the decision. They tweaked it a bit, and they say that it will fit very logically, that everything that happens in the first 7 weeks fits together well, with a great cliffhanger, and then everything in the next 13 eps fits together well.

Lost is a little different than other shows. Lost has a major story ark going through the season, heck the series. Other shows don't have that big of an ark. alright some shows might, but they are alot of smaller arks in there. Were as in Lost you had a 3 or 4 new eps, then 3 or 4 old eps. It's like reading the 2nd book in a series and the author sticking a 3 or 4 chapters from a previous book in random places.

Lost doesn't really have story arcs like that though. Lots of times we got a epidoe about Jack followed by one about Charlie followed by one about Claire, etc. They just make them fit together a little better then other shows. For the first two seasons there have been plenty of discussion on the throw away epsiodes that nothing or close to nothing really happens. I can see people being angry at the pacing of the show when it gives bread crumbs for 6 straight epsiodes and people grow impatient wanting the loaf.

It has enough of a central arc that chopping that showing new episodes willy-nilly with repeats makes the show da*m hard to follow.

I've now watched the entire second season and I am feeling somewhat disappointed.

Michael flatly offends me now. It is not enough to want to be a father, or even to want to be a good father. he want to be a good father. but he isn't. He just a proud and reactionary man, who is now a murderer when with a little finese he could have accomplished his mission without killing Ana Lucia or Libby.

Which leads me to the observation, I don't care how much they deny it - the shows producers killed off the Ana Lucia and Libby character becuase of Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros arrest for drunk driving.

Ana Lucia served as body guard to Jack's father and witnessed him having some sort of odd confrontation with a woman. James/Sawyer more or less shared drinks, and James/Sawyer lived to tell Jacka bout it. But Ana Lucia died before she could tell Jack about her encounter with his father. So this plot has gone phst. Why bring up the plot just have it to go phst?

Libby was in the same loony bin as Hurley. Deepdish never realizes this and Libby dies before he could learn about it. So this plot has also gone phst. Why bring up the plot just have it to also go phst?

I hope the Others start to make more sense next season. Right now the writing about them seems very scattered and unfocused.

The characters are not talking to each other, are keeping secrets and lying. It lets the writers off the hook, or rather an easy way out for creating tension and drama. But it makes the characters look arrogent in a dumb way.

And they are turning faith into slavery.

I hope they kill a whole mess of people next season.
