I have built a new computer and sold my prior laptop that contained by character builder.

I have downloaded the character builder via torrents and updates but it appears that I do not have them all as Martian Power 2 is missing and Players Handbook 3 is listed as beta.

Does anyone have a link that has all the updates and easy to install or with instructions?

Other questions - do the updates have to be done in sequence or will the latest update everything to that date?

Thanks

The likely hood that you will get any help pirating software in these forums is pretty slim.

In before the lock

How is this pirating software? I paid for the software with my DDI subscription, had it installed on my laptop (worked fine) and am trying to transfer it to my desktop (and new laptop) as my old laptop is outdated and I have disposed of it.

No, you did not pay for the software. You paid for a DDI subscription which includes access to their database. The CB was a tool to access that database, but you never paid for the software. Leased is a more correct word to use.

If you had copied the software (including the final version of the data files) from your laptop, it would not be pirating software. Downloading it from anywhere but WotC (which no longer distributes the discontinued offline character builder), on the other hand, is.

I did in fact copy it from my laptop but a simple copy and paste did not allow the program to work. Others have the same issues.

I think that is less than clear. If you were allowed to use it, I think where exactly the binary comes from is irrelevant from a legal viewpoint. You are paying for a license, and unless the license restricts you, the bit source is irrelevant.

No. Or rather, getting a copy of a program (or a book or a song or a movie) from a source that cannot legally distribute it is illegal, even if you have legal rights to a copy of the program.

While the intricacies of copyright law and software portability is an interesting topic in general, it's not really a topic up for debate here. EN World doesn't help swap official WotC material away from the main source. The boards here can't help you.

If you'd like to post a rant about how WotC is turning people into software pirates because their new CB sucks so badly, EN World will give you a place to talk about it, of course. ;)
