Oh great. I'm a werewolf.

This is a common problem for mid to low level PC's, and I've got it. Just last night my PC contracted lycanthropy from some wolves. I didn't think to check to see if I had belladonna on me (I'm an herbalist type) and the hour passed. Actually, since the DM rolled our saving throws, nobody knew I had contracted it.

There is, of course, the other cure; have a cleric cast Heal or Break Enchantment or somesuch spell. But here's the catch: I'm a Forsaker. I don't think I would willingly go to the chapel to have a spell cast on me; even though I would roll a saving throw, as I read this as the Forsaker willingly gaining the benefits of magic, something which he can't or won't do.

What's a Werewolf to Do? Besides start taking ranks in Control Shape.

Anyone else handled playing an afflicted lycanthrope? How'd ya do it?

Depending on your alignment PRE and POST contraction you might want to start trying to research lore on them. When does it affect, how, etc.

(Try doing this covertly as you don't want people to know...they tend to get torches and stuff and burn down your house with you in it.)

Depending on how you feel about your fellow party members...buy them so silver weapons just in case the DM does a "I get you while you are out of control" event on you.

Waking up naked, lying on the ground, covered in blood with all your buddies dead in a cricle about you CAN suck...

If you CAN look at it, check out the Secrets & Societies book by Sword & Sorcery, they have a lycanthrop thing in there with a few feats, if I am not mistaken. PLEASE check with your GM to make sure you can "see that book".

Forsaker and werewolf ! You have a chance I'm not in your party, that's two reasons to hum... remove your character :D

I have no advice about what to do in such a situation : unless your group is ready to accept you, chances are great you will become their ennemy...

Well if you view lycanthropy as a magical affliction or curse your DM might cut you some slack in getting the curse removed. If time isn't pressing maybe you could convince the party to winter somewhere and wait out the bulk of the year and a day stricture that comes from voluntarily using magic.

If it where my character it would depend on what was more important to him. If not being a werewolf was his top priority then I would submit to magical treatment and suck up the penalty. If he were utterly unbudgable on not using magic even in light of a crisis as severe as this one, I would probably have the character kill himself, since personally I view it as a curse.

Break Enchantment is the DESTRUCTION of an Enchantment -- the VIOLENT DEATH of some magical effect! I can't think of another spell that a Forsaker would like half as much, unless it's Dispel Magic.

Yeah, I agree with Nifft, only you might have to bring the church to you, or have your buddies do it for you when you start coughing up fur balls with human parts in them.

I would play it out for some time, until it gets out of control and becomes a big threat for the rest of the party. Let them know that you aren't taking a watch when sleeping in the wild, and be adament that you don't - especially on the moonlit nights. Stick with it, it could be fun for the rest of the party to help with your curse since it really only threatens them if you are in denial.

Hmm, this one's easy. Go insane, as your fanatic hatred of magic leaves you open to self-loathing because of your new affliction. Flee the party in a mad rage. Create a new character. Persuade the DM to keep your old character as a tragic NPC.

Demiurge out.

Oh, that's easy. If your adventuring companions like you, and know of your affliction, they can knock you out when you go to sleep and carry you to the priest. Ergo, you're not willing, so you just get the save, and can retry multiple times.

If they don't like you and you tell them, well, you make a new character and the party gets some XP.

I wouldnt consider were-affliction to be magical in nature. A were-wofl wouldnt radiate magic in my world and even if the rules say otherwise I would allow shapeshifting while in an anti-magic zone.

Personally, I'd think a bit of research would yield a non-oath-breaking way to remove the curse. It'll probably be a long quest worth a good chunk of XP.
