Ohio GameDay IV planning

Just adding my thanks to Shaylon for taking the lead on this and working on one of the harder parts, securing a place to hold this thing!

It seems as though we are definately going to be meeting up in columbus, and that means my ability to talk to fish is of no use to you. However, as the time draws near, i can try and help with things of a more material nature. I have few extra folding chairs, maybe a table extra, that sort of thing. If it turns out there is something i can do to help before we reach the slot assigning phase Crothian mentioned, just drop me an email.

Der, if my memory serves me, your daughter games as well. Is that right? Would she be coming as well? Just looking at the numbers!

Thanks

Well, both daughters game, but the younger one (13) would not be coming, at least. The older one only gets to go if she starts hanging out here! (I've told her, but with school just starting and being the "senior" she's just "too busy right now, dad.")

I am certainly up for a trip and I could probably bring at least 2 or 3 lurkers/gamers with me who would participate (and of course, they would pay).

Also, I could run some games (something either supers, or Call of Cthulhu or Paranoia or - as a treat for some - I have a zany Macho Women With Guns Game).

you have a date, time, place, final cost yet?

Place will be Columbus, most likely at a Holiday Inn in Grove City. No date, time or final cost as of yet.

Sorry, I know this has gotten a little confusing. Right now we have another thread with a poll question as to whether or not you would be willing to come to a gameday. I am going to let that run through the weekend to see about how much interest there is.

Based on that interest we have two Columbus locations available. If the yes's push 50 we will be looking at the Blue Moon location earlier in this thread. If it stays around 20 we will be looking at a conference room at a Holiday Inn Express. The HIE room is much cheaper, but also much smaller, and would probably not hold much more than 25 people. Blue Moon can house up to 300. Oh, and Blue Moon will give us their room from 8 am until midnight, Holiday Inn said "All Day" so I would think 10-whenever there. I went and checked out the Holiday inn room as well. It is basically classroom size and they have some small rectangular tables(maybe 5 foot by 18 inches) that if we doubled up on would be typical school lunchroom size rectangular tables. I am not sure how they would feel if we brought in some additional card tables but they probably wouldn't care.

After that I will speak with the venue and get an idea about their upcoming Saturday schedules. I will get some dates and then post a poll with several dates to see which gets the best response. I am hoping to have a late October, early November, and Early December date to choose from. We will have the board decide which date is best.

Once that date is decided we can start a thread for game signups and such. If we pick the smaller room at the HIE we should be able to get 4, maybe 5 tables going at a time.

Lastly, there will be a charge for either of the venues we choose but I am trying to keep that very minimal, between 5 and 10 dollars. Most people who have posted have said they don't mind a charge as long as it is minimal so I am trying to keep it in that range.

If you have any more questions, or if I didn't answer it sufficiently, let me know here.

-Shay
