i suck at the rules but i'm telling you changing size categories would i think be cheaper.
you still get the str bonus. you lose a little AC. but then you get reach too.

edit: ala Divine... Might???
You are probably right, but I am thinking of analogous items for the other abilities, too. Headbands of 18 Intelligence and stuff.

Or, for items that give a flat benefit (Spell Resistance 21 or whatever), I'm wondering what an item would cost that increases an existing score (SR +9, say).

@ Hyp: Sure...and I think there's a spell in the SC that raises Dex to 18 (plus other bonuses). I don't have the SC handy.....

In any case, magic which raises a creature's ability score to a set value *is* present in the system. The main judgement I see is "what level spell would that be?" After you figure that out, pricing a magic item is a peice of cake!

(kinda) ;)

Nail nailed it :D Use Divine Power as a reference, or otherwise the lowest level polymorph-type spell that could turn you into a creature with Str 18.

Then I think items which give the same benefit to other scores should be equally priced.
