@Leif :

I see: Magic Longsword +1 (1,315 gp) [+9 att, 1d8+5 dam]

Cost should read 2315 gp.

next: Magic Spiked Breastplate +1 (1,400 gp, +7 AC, -3 ACP +1 ftr armor trng=ACP -2) (spikes +7 att melee, 1d6+4 dam)

Attacking with spikes is like attacking with a second weapon, all be it a light weapon so the attacks would be at -4 for primary (Longsword) and -8 for sendary (spikes) to show as :

Longsword att: +5, spikes att: -1

total spent is 3752.42. as mentioned about the long sword cost being off by 1000 gp, I will let that get corrected . . . . .

will work on next 3 tomorrow. This was easier then I thought. Maybe I can help out over in LPF, after all!

Okay the favored class I selected is Rogue. Guess I should write that somewhere. So with two levels of Rogue I should get the favored class bonus twice right? I took it once for skills and once for hit points. Here's the relevant passage from the character advancement section:

'Each character begins play with a single favored class of his choosing—typically, this is the same class as the one he chooses at 1st level. Whenever a character gains a level in his favored class, he receives either + 1 hit point or + 1 skill rank. The choice of favored class cannot be changed once the character is created, and the choice of gaining a hit point or a skill rank each time a character gains a level (including his first level) cannot be changed once made for a particular level. Prestige classes (see Prestige Classes) can never be a favored class.'

I read that to indicate that I can chose either bonus at each level, but once I make my choice of class it is fixed and once I take a bonus at a given level I can't change that either. Am I off base here? There is also an option to take a +1/3 on crit confirmations when using sneak attack as a half-orc rogue from the APG, but I didn't see that as particularly practical at low level.

I can't believe I shorted myself on ability scores. I shall begin buffing post haste and I'll break out the modifiers a little better. With extra points comes more mods, huzzah! I'll also check the skill points, I might have overspent by one. I'll also get the coins straight.

Okay, I boosted constitution and wisdom. The extra hit points, save bonuses and bonus to a couple of important skills seemed like the best choice. The additional wisdom seemed to fit with the changes in he's undergone as detail in his background. I added a couple of ship names and edited the background slightly for clarity and in one case spelling.

I corrected the gold total. I think the sap was a last minute addition and I neglected to take off a gold piece for it.

I have counted the skill points repeatedly and I only get to 22. If somebody else can find an inappropriate 23rd point in there please let me know.

I reviewed and listed various modifiers. I had actually shorted myself in one case.

I changed a feat from point blank shot to weapon focus. In Pathfinder Whips are reach weapons that threaten adjacent squares not ranged weapons as they were in 3.5, so the point blank shot feat didn't really make sense.

I added a section for advancement with a break down of which classes i've taken including my choice of favored class and an experience point total. I guess I'll go ahead and lay out my selections for level 4. I expect to take another level of fighter followed by two levels of rogue.

Any other nits?

A subtle point, but important - while you can attack adjacent squares with a whip, they don't actually threaten those squares (or any squares).

Yes, I should not have equated threatening with being able to attack. What I really intended to say was attack adjacent squares.
