That's gotta be someone's poor sence of humor. For those that speak Japanese 'Epona' means 'horse' (sort of) and was the name of an Eastern Horse Goddess, obviously someone isn't all that funny, or original for that matter. :\

Dunno to be honest ... it was a baby names site. All the other sites said nothing about it. Go figure.

Maybe it is just ignorance? But it could be a sense of humor, of course.

Yeah, I would be careful about those sites, if they don't check referrences or do their historical research you can find all sorts of 'real' names and 'historical' facts from them.

If you would like an example, do some serious research on 'historical' Gealic names some time, and you'll find that many 'historical' names area actually either common only after the 18th c. or are highly influneced by fantasy novels and aren't 'real' Gaelic names at all.

I would chock it up to - bad info from the site, myself. YMMV
