Once Upon A Time in the Weird West

Hey Krug. I would definately be interested in continuing with this. I particularly want to see how Jianna's half celestial side manifests itself.

But I've just put myself on the "Inactive List" for a while as I try and organise moving overseas. I expect to be able to resume normal services around late September. Until then, my attendance will be intermittant at best. At the moment I'm checking in only about twice a month.

thotd.

The Priest looks at Jianna for a moment, seeing the determination in her eyes. Nodding, he turns to Lena, taking hold of her hand while using his other hand to brush back her hair.

"Everything's going to be alright," his voice strangely calming.

ooc: ready to lay on hands if there is trouble during the delivery.

I'm good to go whenever everyone else is!

Priest has healed all kinds of wounds and been in all kinds of situations, but this was completely new. He tried to remember what to do, and with his careful guiding hands, Lena felt comforted. Roland stalked around, anxious, occasionally pointing his gun at the outside.

The birth goes smoothly, even as Lena starts screaming. Roland covers his ears to cover the noise. After gathering whatever materials he could find and an hour of pure exertion, Jianna holds up the child, a healthy baby girl. Some zombies, attracted by the sound, are looking in at the window.

Lena turns to Priest and Jianna. "Thank you," she says, tears of gratitude and pain on her face. Roland smiles in gratitude too.

Jianna, female human

Jianna gives everyone a big hug. As she does so, he notices the faces at the window, peering in. She smiles at them and goes to wave before remembering who, or rather what they are and what they want.

A shiver runs down her spine. Jianna turns to the others.

"We need to work out what we are going to do next. Part of me thinks we should lie low and rest here until morning. It seems safe enough.

"But part of me thinks we should take the fight to the zombies. I don't like the idea of just leaving the town ... in this state."

Jianna glances over at her rifle propped against a pew nearby and lightly touches the hilt of her sword. She realises that she is tired of running, and tired of being hunted. The weapons call to her. And something deep inside stirs.

A wide grin fills Priest's face as Jianna hands the baby girl to Lena. "What will you call her, Lena?" he asks.

Seeing the zombies in the window, he makes a silent vow to to keep the baby from harm. At the same time, he wonders for what foul purpose Pickaxe Jack would want the baby.

Hearing Jianna's words, and seeing her eye her rifle, the Priest gets up. Now that the delivery was successfully past, the Priest goes around and examines everyone for wounds, healing whatever damage he can. When he gets to the dog, he asks it "What of it? Feel like hunting?"

Jianna rolls her eyes. Just like a man. Can talk to a dog, but not a woman.

Jianna glances back at the rifle propped against a pew, her eyes running over the intricately worked metal. They seem to shift and shimmer with an energy of their own. One day I will find out what those designs mean.

"The sensible thing to do would be to wait here until sunrise, then get out of town.

"But I'm not in the mood for sensible, and I doubt that Mr Pickaxe is a big one for sensible either. The longer we wait here, the more time he has to plan. I think we should take the fight to him. The zombies outside would be a good place to start. If nothing else, it might make them keep their distance."

Priest considers Jianna's words. What she said made sense. And anything they could do to reduce the number of zombies would be good.

"Alright, let's do it then," he says. Making sure Lena and Roland are alright, he checks his weapons and mounts Hammer, ready to go out again.

As Lena looks at the baby, she mutters "Maybe Sheila, after her grandmother," she says, breathing heavily, as she chokes back tears. Roland turns to Priest and Jianna. "Thank you. Thank you."

As Priest mounts Hammer, the hound starts howling, barking at the outside. Alert, Roland picks up his gun. You hear the arrival of horses into town. Friend or foe, you do not know.

Jianna
You think there about four or five of them, judging by the hooves.

Jianna collects her rifle and checks to see its ready. Seeing the Priest about to mount up, she steps over and puts her hand on his shoulder before he has a chance.

"I think it might be a good idea to stay on foot for the moment. Lets just try clearing the area around the door and see what happens. Later, if need be, we can mount up and ride out."

The sound of the hound howling spins her around. She glances at the windows and doors, and breathes a sigh of relief to see that they remain 'unbreached'.

"We have company ... hopefully no one I know ... About 4 or 5 horses it sounds like."

Jianna notices Roland with the gun.

"Easy there Roland. Make sure you know what you are shooting before you pull the trigger. OK?"

Jianna returns her attention to the Priest.

"I'm going to open the doors and have a look see. I think we should do this together, just in case they, it, whatever tries to force its way in."

"Can you ring the bell again Roland. If they are living, ... well it worked once, it might do so again."
