One 5-foot step per round, what about the Hasted partial action

AGGEMAM said:

It actually says 'one 5 foot step' in a round, not 'a 5 foot step' in one round which makes all the difference.

No it doesn't. It doesn't say "in a round". [Not in that connection anyway. ]

"If you move no actual distance in a round (commonly because you have swapped your move for one or more move-equivalent actions), you can take one 5-foot step either before, during, or after the action."

Seems almost impossible to argue that. One 5-foot step per round. Anything more, as shown from page 117 isn't a five-foot step and it becomes regular movement which doesn't prevent AoO's.

Besides the FAQ actually says that you cannot take more than one 5-foot step per round, regardless of haste. It is on page 46.

Yes, it does.

"If you move no actual distance in a round (Commenly because you have swapped your move for one or more move-equivalent actions), you can take one 5-foot step ..." Combined with an action. A move-equivalent action is an action. A standard action is an action. A Move-equivalent + Standard + Move-equivalent are 3 actions.

What do that have to do with what it say on page 117 and 121?

That is not it. It does say that you can only take one 5-foot steep per round. It is just so unclear that you have to combine the text on page 117 and 121. None of those pages does on their own make it clear.

So it doesn't say it both places. It doesn't say it one of the places. It only say it if you read the two texts combined.

I can understand if Beerf got pissed with their [Edit: your] answers.

Exactly what we've been saying.

It is just so unclear that you have to combine the text on page 117 and 121. None of those pages does on their own make it clear.

Which is why we brought both up.

So it doesn't say it both places. It doesn't say it one of the places. It only say it if you read the two texts combined.

117 describes what a 5-ft step does and implies you get one.
121 says you get one per round.

I can understand if Beerf got pissed with their [Edit: your] answers.

I can't. He can say he doesn't like the text but there's no sense in getting angry with either us or the answers.

A 5-ft step isn't an action, but may only be taken if you make no other actual movement for the round (see page 117). Thus each round is still a Move + Standard OR Move + Move (being able to substitute an MEA for a Move) OR a FRA. If all the Move actions are MEAs, then you may make a 5-ft step. Also, if there are no Move actions, you may take a 5-ft step.

Haste gives you an extra partial action. A partial action can be either a Move OR a Standard.

5-ft steps fall outside the MEA/Move/Standard listings. They are additional actions that can only be taken if the right conditions are met.
