My hobby is building and tinkering. I like playing and modifying D&D, but it's not my only fix.
This. The L5R 3e is proving a fascinating little toy to play with, almost as much fun as the ORE system, but 3.5 is so tidy and modular* and the stories to actually play with it come easily.

* When you play, as I do, in a home group with old friends who don't really care about balance as long as there's some soda (some drive), some beer (some don't), some snacks, and the chance to smash monsters with our funny polyhedrals and our amusing characters.

Gaming is my hobby first but D&D is such a large part of that hobby, of course I'm interested. If anything, 4E has my prime interest right now because it's certainly going to be a large determining factor in what I system my gaming groups play next.

So while I play other system, there's always a nod toward what D&D is doing.

I would say I'm interested in 4E/D&D because gaming is my hobby.

It's because my hobby is gaming, not D&D.

Me too.

But I'm not even looking at 4e as "D&D". It's just another game. I'm excited about a new alternative. I'm going to be vocal about my hopes for it. If it ends up not fulfilling any of them, no big deal. I've still got plenty of variety on my shelf including at least three other games that call themselves "D&D".
