Logitech has to maintain the online database, though it is updated by consumers as well. They also have to program it to understand what you want to do from the start.

Honestly, it's priced similarly to any other high end universal remote that I've seen (And I mean the high function scripting ones), but is head and shoulders ahead of them in terms of usability for the programing as well as the actual use.

It can even work for windows media centers and game consols that support remotes.
 


Love my Harmony remote. Had a 688 for a couple years and loved it but it started to flake a bit on me so I got a newer one which actually does a better job at letting me get to the cable-box features. I recommend Harmony to everyone I see with more than 2 remotes by their couch.
