Good, because my overactive imagination can come up with all manner of words to fit that acronym.
It's like FML, but for dice.

As far as Protection goes, Forged Fury is right.

I read that to be the creature's target, not that you have to target someone with the ability.

Hey Forged Fury

How do you write the code for the dice roller when you need to add 2 dice? You did it with bless, and I don't know how to do it properly with hex.
Thanks

"When a creature you can see attacks a target other than you that is within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. You must be wearing a shield.".
I think the text itself basically explains that you don't have to predesignate. It says the decision to use your reaction is "[w]hen a creature you see attacks a target other than you." It's at that point that you are designating who you protect (i.e. when an enemy attacks someone within 5' of you).

I think an alternate way to do it would be to put an order of protection list together and simply say that these are the people who you are going to protect in order, as who is within 5' of you can change after you've designated. That would be my suggestion. Reactions make PbP a little difficult. It was one of the reasons I didn't think I wanted to try 4E as they seemed a lot more prevalent than 3.5.

Unrelated note for Steve: you unfortunately can't reserve movement. Well, you can, but you have to use your action to Ready in order to do so.

You just have to do the rolls separately. Like:

(roll)1d20+7(/roll) + (roll)1d4(/roll) =

Then go back and add in the total. The dice roller doesn't like mixing dice types. :( I did find out from hafrogman that you can tell the dice to display your results, which is helpful for Great Weapon Master and others where you can reroll bad dice rolls. It uses the (rollv)(/rollv) convention.

Yeah. like that. I think the only problem is that if you have a static modifier, it doesn't add it.

[roll0]

^ Yeah, didn't add the static to the total.

All that XP belongs to hafrogman who pointed it out to me. I shall dispense with the XP!

Creamsteak Which of the gargoyle statutes didn't animate? I was going to make fun of the statues, but wasn't sure which sins we were fighting since only three of the four animated.

hafrogman, I also read that to be the creature's target. That part wasn't in contention (I don't think?).

That said, an order of preference of who to protect works for me. Good idea. Hopefully it's not too much of the "if-then" thing we're trying to avoid. Group init has sometimes meant the action sequence is a little squirrely, particularly if folks are posting nearly simultaneously. Since it's sometimes tricky for me to know who is about to move and who isn't, what I'll do wing who I guesstimate will be where doing what and will list all five of you in order of preference for protection.
