Talofa @TaranTheWanderer

There is no IC thread yet. We are still hashing out character concepts. See above for the latest.

ok, I see that now. I saw the 'IC Thread' at the beginning of the OOC thread and didn't realize there wasn't a link

My one issue with playing straight fighter is that, in a sandbox, I like to have social skills - hence wanting a few levels in rogue or paladin. A 3 level dip in paladin is always nice for the abilities and for Knowledge nobility and diplomacy(a must-have skill for a campaign like this, I think).

I'm partial to skill-monkeys but want to delve into the complex feat-trees of a fighter. So, I just want that balance of some social skills to give him some utility in out-of-combat situations.

I'll play a human.
Edit: Stats:
STR: 15+2
Dex: 8-1
CON:14+2
INT:13+1
WIS: 10+0
CHA:12+1

Absolutely understand. I have never been very good at character optimisation because I like to cover my bases.

That said, PbP is slow. It can take months to complete an encounter, and years to level. So keep in mind your L3 dip into Paladin. But build something you can play, and enjoy, now.

I think I'm going to do a one level dip in rogue and then fighter for the rest. The downside is we may end up with two rogues at 1st level.

Well, let's see where @Neurotic lands WRT the Bard/Rogue question.

After that, potentially it is a @OneCrappy DM call.

Personally, I have never been too concerned about the whole party balance thing. I would throw my hat into the ring for an all Ranger/Rogue/Paladin/etc game if it looked interesting.

@doghead as a Forester, your main job is to cut down trees for lumber. As such you have a small hovel on the outskirts of Grey Camp a couple miles away. The settlements need for construction material has slowly dwindled but is nonetheless still there, the skills you have acquired from this has been the Diplomacy and Use Rope. You have two ranks in each of these skills and they are consider class skills for the purpose of skill rank progression regardless of multi classing.

I will see if you settle on a relation to the bard, beside that I should be fine to write a start for your character.

@TaranTheWanderer Welcome, I'll be stating the in character post here soon. I just need to get some background information on your character and if you could pick a profession or I can roll one for you this helps me place you in the story.

@Neurotic Let me know when you have your profession in mind as to what you have been doing to keep a roof over your head all these years outside of being a noble (Note: no skill of note is an option)

I was thinking Innkeeper.

I think my general background will be the son of an innkeeper who joined the guard. To keep with the Knight/Nobility theme, we can say that his father was the 2nd or 3rd son of a Lord of some sort. The Inn is on land that the father(edit: or family member) owns and the Innkeeper himself is a commoner loyal to the family. Or something like that.

So, worked in an inn as a youngster, ear to the ground and connections and hung with the common folk. Became a guard with some connections among the locals but has higher aspirations. His father also has higher aspirations for him.

The father(or mother) can be related to Greywarden - probably brothers. So he'd be Greywarden's nephew. Maybe my character is a cousin to one or more of the other characters and a nephew to the lord
