While we use the Realms pantheon, the info goes little beyond the name of the FR deity and their respective portfolio. That type of stuff can be found on the 'net, so no need to have the books. In Ostia Prim, the gods are pretty much ambiguous, weird, and beyond mortal ken. So any ignorance you have as a player translates well to ignorance of the gods as a character.
If you're playing a cleric or other devoted character, then I'll work with you off-line to iron some things out regarding your beliefs. No sweat.
By way of an update on the recruiting mission - I've got a lot of responses and - more importantly - a lot of very, very good responses. I think it's safe to say that we'll have a list of excellent alternates. I'd ask that those of you who are unable to be in the initial group don't hold it against me - we'll try to work you in some time down the road if this PbP experiment pans out as I hope it will. I've always been fairly competent at killing off PC's, so openings should pop up with alarming frequency.
