I believe that the massacre of the NPCs in the previous comic was done in a hotel room. Oftentimes, hotels require security deposits on their rooms in case of damage or missing items. I should know... I work in one. ;)

It's more a reference to renting, where the practice of security deposits is far, far more common.

Much like with the hotel business, when you rent an apartment, the landlord typically requires a security deposit (normally to the sum of one month's rent) in order to cover any clean and repairs the renters may leave behind when they're done renting (or get evicted). If the property hasn't been trashed, and the renters leave on good terms with the landlord, usually the renter gets the deposit back. Otherwise, some or all of the deposit may be retained by the landlord in order to put the property back into a livable condition.

I predict Belkar will join the Linear Guild. He did kill his two weak imitations :)

Actually, probably not, just the artwork from the last panel. Speaking of which, Elan is speaking suspiciously intelligently there. I wonder if Belkar will notice?

So... what skills does Belkar put his ranks in when he levels?

There was one about "Craft: Disturbing Mental Image" but rangers get 6+Int per level, and while Belkar's WIS leaves something to be desired, I don't think he's been accused of being stupid...

So, what are Belkar's skills?

I figure Bluff (cross-class), Intimidate, Sleight of Hand (cross-class). He might have Jump... he's used it twice, at least once with his magic jumping boots, so it could just be the item.

Intelligence compared unfavorably with that of a table, actually.

My guess is Bluff, Hide, Jump, Move Silently, and (maybe) Intimidate, indicating an Int of 8... which is no way out of line, IMHO.

[Incidentally, IIRC, Craft Disturbing Mental Image is an "item creation" feat.]

I liked the way Nale's thoughts echoed those of many GMs who would be setting up for the PCs to be suspicious of the replacement of a one character another. Getting all ready with complex and evasive responses, and then nobody asks any questions. Kinda a letdown...

Actually I think that was a ring hidden on ... something other than a fingure. The evil twin had the boots.
