OotS #466

Yeah. Especially since, as far as Redcloak's personal viewpoint is concerned, he is the hero of the goblin people, and the Order are just tools of the oppressive anti-goblin establishment or something..
He could have a point, even.... ;) (begining of the bottom 'page'.)

See, I'd be very disappointed if he wasn't raised. Roy's too much the heart of the team--and the heart of the plot--to stay dead. (He's also my favorite character.)

I think the team, and the strip, could survive the loss and replacement of any other character more easily, and more smoothly, than the permanent loss of Roy.

I dunno, Hinjo is a natural replacement for Roy, and he is already with the party. Thats a pretty smooth transition, no?

Anybody think the OotS will have to fight to recover Roy's body? Or will one of the next few strips show they've recovered it in the flight from Azure City?

edit: I must admit, I was happy when it was confirmed that Roy died. Not because I dislike the character, but because Rich was showing that he wasn't afraid of killing off a main character. Letting Roy cool his heels in the afterlife would reinforce this idea.

I have to agree with the mouse. The OotS doesn't listen to Hinjo AFAICT, and they haven't really been effective at all w/o Roy, with the exceptions of Belkar and Vaarsuvius, who were acting independently at the time. Besides, I'm not sure the rest of them really would have the gumption to go after Xykon by themselves (except maybe Belkar, who would just do it to kill someone -- or would that be unkill?). That said, it seems like it will be a while before we to see get Roy raised or resurrected, just because Rich seems to have a lot of other story elements he wants to deal with first.

I know it'll never happen (if for no other reason than the fact that I'm postulating here on this forum, and Rich seems to go out of his way to prove everyone wrong), but what if Redcloak's being built up to join the OotS? With Señor Greenhilt pushin' up the daisies, it seems they have an opening.

Oh, unrelated... Awesome strip. Someone needs to make a shirt along the lines of "I did it all for the Macguffins"
why do they need 2 clerics? dorukon is workin out just fine...

I can't see Hinjo knowingly and willingly working with thee same group of which Belkar is a part, him being a Paladin and Belkar being unrepentantly CE and all . . . .

I think Hinjo will likely have other things on his mind - I believe Redcloak's pronouncement of the "doneness" of the Sapphire Guard is premature. He will be busy rebuilding the Guard.

QFT.

Why is everyone thinking Roy is out of the OotS, given all of the author comments we've heard in the past? Roy will be back, possibly within 4 or 5 strips.

Man, I've got to use a villain like Xykon in my game sometime! Not at all competent, but powerful enough (barely) that he doesn't really need to be.
Doesn't that basically describe the PCs in our game? ;)
