OotS #470

Apropos of nothing, have you noticed how much Rich enjoys catfights? Especially if they're calling one another a bitch, tramp, skanky ho*, etc.

*Okay, no one uses the phrase skanky ho anymore but I still love it. I'm no better than Rich. :)

Regardless, I like showing that she's a menace in combat. Everybody else has gotten to kick some major behind lately. :)

Except Roy. His dramatic fight has been ruined by an anticlimactic opponent ("oh yeah, I remember now, you're that guy that got upset because I forgot... err, something.") and then he was pwned like a newb. Couldn't even triumph over a booty call talisman, to say nothing of a lich.

She must have read the Star Wars Saga Edition book and is now adding half her character level to damage.

;)
Or simply has a +1 or better composite bow and a Strength bonus, which together would certainly be enough to drop a typical hobgoblin (6hp per the SRD) with an average damage roll, especially if using a longbow.

I do have to agree with Belkar's comment about the scene being too awesome to ruin with words, which oddly enough Rich agreed with since there was nary a word to be spoken while Haley was doing her thing :)

I'm still waiting to see how Roy's handling the afterlife...

Well, he had his moment in the sun when he largely one-shotted Miko. Besides, this largely his story, so you know he's going to have the biggest dramatic moment of them all... only to have the wind taken out his sails by Elan (accidently) or Belkar (intentionally).

As for fighting Xykon, he gave it his best shot... but it's not easy being a low-teens fighter against an epic-level sorcerer lich. And if it weren't for the goth chick, Xykon would have been in even worse trouble when facing off against Soon and the Ghost-Martyrs.

I have to go with Greater Manyshot for Haley. Even with a BAB of +6, she can fire 5 arrows a round with Rapid Shot. Factoring in a dex bonus of at least +3, a magic bow of let's assume +2, +1 from Point Blank Shot, and the penalties from Rapid Shot and Manyshot, it's still +5 to hit. Her damage is probably pretty reasonable, too (already at +3 from the magic and Point Blank Shot). But where she gets the longbow proficiency... Well, I'm not going to predict it, but it would be interesting if she's an aasimar.

Unfortunately, Rapid Shot requires you to use a full attack action while Multishot is a standard action, which means you can't use them both at once. I'm of the opinion that she's shooting four arrows because Rich happened to draw four arrows in the panel. Even in a DnD based game like OotS, you can't keep every little detail in mind all the time.

And besides, how do we know that each panel is exactly one round?

Good catch! OTOH, the reason we "know" each panel is a round and that she's shooting four arrows intentionally is because it's fun to speculate. ;)

Could Belkar not attack the hobgoblins because of his Mark of Justice?

Right. He's still inside the city walls at this point, I believe.

And I loved the look on the last hobgoblin's face as he turns around to see that one human slaughtered 21 of his comrades. :D
