This strip was entertaining, but felt like a speed bump in the plot development. And it felt like we were just getting up to speed, too...
 


People tend to hate filler (i.e. that which does not advance the plot) when they can have plot instead.

I do feel, incidentally, that he's probably leaving a bit soon and that decision will return to haunt him. ;)

Like there's an entire room of various severed bits that's the first stop of any deceased pet.

Well, that does seem to bring the whole "Ghost of Roy" subplot to an unexpectedly pointless end. I can't help feeling that without the attempted haunting, we could've got excatly where we are now in about half the strips.
 


I feel confident in saying that since is the first OoTS strip in over two years that disappointed me. I like the funny strips a lot, and I appreciate the plot drivers. To me, this offering did neither.
 

He probably is advancing the plot, we just can't see it. Not that this excuses it completely, just that the last time many of us thought he dropped the ball (Xykon's easy kill of the living throne room defenders) he was setting up a nice moment (the legions of the dead.)
