This is possibly a stupid question, but what's the target audience of this product? Will my art need to be geared toward young girl scouts? OR can I do a 'darker' version?

This isn't geared at the girlscouts, so I don't expect rainbows and fluffy bunnies.
Still, try to keep it reasonable. No diagrams on how to disembowl a hooker with a breadknife and accompanying step by step illustrations, but a human getting melted by a goblin sorcerer is perfectedly acceptable.
So, I guess it depends upon your definition of dark...
