I never really got the major excitement over rarity.

Doesn't the DM seed all the magic items anyways?

And isn't 'Rare' the same thing is 'costs the same as the original item level indicates'?

Its mostly related to the enchant magic item ritual and the ease in which you can access commons. It also comes up when building higher level characters which get to select their items. Its important not to allow 'daily' items to be common and therefore craftable now there is no limit to their use. Higher level characters could be tempted to craft multiples of lower level items just to get the daily powers.

The distinction between uncommon and rare is more a DM guideline though. Resale value is also interesting to note as you can convert a rare into equivalent value of resdium with a ritual. Personally I wouldn't allow this on a rare
 

As someone who can't regularly get a gaming group together I have to rely on Living Forgotten Realms a lot to get my D&D fix, so this is pretty awesome. LFR uses the core rules so I cannot ignore it.
