Order of the Stick boardgame?

Had a chance to play it. Played for a few hours and didn't finish. Some good stuff there though and looks like it has some replayabiilty factor as the characters, despite having similiar mechanical abilities in overall bonuses, have different flavors to them.

Everything I've heard about it indicates it just takes too long; that, although it's amusing, the jokes wear thin after 4+ hours. It's a great pity.

Cheers!

It's fun, and yes, it's amusing and there's a lot of variety in the characters. Fixing the length of time of the game is actually very easy - you just reduce the number of dungeons and give the characters more Schticks (Feats aka their Unique Abilities) at the beginning so they can burn through the monsters faster. Do that and the game speeds up a lot and wears less thin.

Yeah, it runs long. It is fun, but it runs long. You can (and probably should) escalate the game by preemptively leveling the characters.

Played it twice.

Thought it was OK the first time.

Didn't enjoy it at all the second.

It too way too long to get to the finish line and after awhile the jokes weren't really all that funny.

It sits at a bad valley of fantasy boardgames where there are too many rules to play while watching a baseball game or drinking with buddies (Talisman is good for this) but not enough rules to engage everyone for multiple hours (I hear Decent is good for this, but truthfully if we have our game faces on we just play DnD so it may not be).

Yeah, my group had a similar thought. Friend bought the game a while ago and we played it really quickly, but we haven't even really thought about it since then.

Although we did play the Munchkin Boardgame which has a somewhat similar premise that we found to be much more enjoyable.
