Origins of the Deities in Frostburn/Sandstorm

Does anyone know about those in Sandstorm?
I know only about two of them. Are the other 8 all new?

Speaking of Frostburn deity, they are mentionned having the Snow (for Vatun or Telchur, don't remember ATM) and Iceberg (for Levistus) domains. Which, unconveniently enough, do not exist anywhere. Or do they? Did they got cut for being "too niche"?

Also, it's kinda sad Kostchtchie got no mention. Yes, there's already Thrym for the Frost Giants, but he could have chatted with Levistus...

The Snow and Iceberg domains did get cut, either for space or because they were too niche. The references to them should have been cut too... oh well.

Kostchtchie's unfortunate ommission is too bad. If I were writing my sections on the book today, I'd definately put him in. Ah well. I'll do my best to make sure he gets some attention somewhere in something between now and 2006...

I was hoping to see him make an appearance; he's made a few appearances in my campaigns throughout the years, ever since that spectacular Dragon cover with him about to brain a Roman soldier with his really big hammer.

Were you given a guidelines for the deities section?
Like "make it roughly 1 per Alignment, 9 total"?

How do you envision the section be used?
I mean, do you presume (most of) the DMs use the whole section for "Frostfell" campaign?
Or do you presume people use them by piecemeal, according to the campaign setting, or just preference?

Do you make any distinction between Archdevils (i.e. Levistus) and deities?

I have one I'd like to add. Why were the power levels (greater, lesser, etc) not included? Did someone decide that it wasn't needed, or what?
