OSRIC: something for the old schoolers

The hardest aspect I'm running into is how to get the word out that Expeditious Retreat Press is producing an OSRIC adventure called (cooly enough :)) The Pod-Caverns of the Sinister Shroom. I'm having this marketing/advertising difficulty because I'm not keyed into the on-line community of non-3E gamers.

I'm expecting to stumble around a bit until I get footing and credentials with an entirely new demographic of gamers. Hopefully this won't take too long, and once they see the product I'm thinking word-of-mouth with have a strong effect for this particular market.

Dragonsfoot.org would be a good place to start finding non-3e D&D players. :)

Joe, check into the following sites:

- Dragonsfoot (as Akrasia already mentioned)
- the Acaeum
- the OOP WotC board
- Rob Kuntz's board
- Delver's Dungeon
- Knights & Knaves
- various Greyhawk boards @ Canonfire!, Harvester's Heroes, Doomsday Games (not a publisher)
- rpg.net
- Goodman Games
- Necromancer Games
- Troll Lord Games

The last 3 may be a little dicier, of course, since they're all d20 competitors, but if you ask before posting, you'll probably be OK since they're all "old school friendly" to one degree or another.

If that challenge comes, it'll stand. Believe me. ;)

Well, you would hardly have published it if you thought, "Hmm, I'm sure when Wizards see this, I'll be in the jail in no time." ;-)

I can't see what objection they could have.

Sorry, maybe I didn't make myself clear: I meant that I know you don't see any problems, because if you did and released it anyway, that would be insane. And you, sir, are far from insane.

Now, the guy who tries to do an opensource version of FATAL? He'll be different. ;-)

Well, I'm pretty sure you can't get much more old-school LEGALLY. :) (And buy new stuff, that is.) I've read it over, even printed a copy for myself, and I like having access to it. For me, it even works if I ever want to try and get my group to play a mini-series of AD&D stuff, and have enough rules-sets to pass around. Now, whether it stands the legal challenge, if there is one, remains to be seen, but I gotta thank Stuart and Matt for putting their time and rep where their mouth is. :)

Thanks, Henry! :)
Maybe Pod-caverns of the Sinister Shroom will entice you and your gang into a quick game! The title certainly seems to be popular so far... :)
