OSRIC v1.01 is going to be about 50% larger by word count than v1.00. The additional content will be:
  • Basic monster listings -- Men, Humanoids, Giants, Dragons, Demons, Devils, Golems, Lycanthropes, Animals, and Others
  • Basic treasure listings
  • A revised and expanded equipment list
  • Rules for poisons, disease and insanity
  • A whole pile of additional artwork in the 1e style, featuring several new artists
By the way, could you add the rules for gaining followers at name level? (at least my OSRIC version doesn't have them). I thought it was a nice feature of 1e and 2e.

In any case, I think i will order a hardback version for collection purposes (if I ever get my copy of Monster of Myth, that is).

I agree that it would be nice!

I certainly won't happen in time for v1.01, I'm afraid; too much else to get finished. Also, the OSRIC rules would need to be made up by me from whole cloth (the 1e ones are largely "artistic presentation").

When did you order your copy of MoM?

I ordered February 9th, and it was shipped February 21. Now it has been 18 days (however, I am located in Europe so it isn't too alarming yet) and I am still waiting. Lulu says they would "intervene" only after 6 weeks and the book still not being delivered.

Needless to say that if I don't get this one, I won't take chances to buy more. Unfortunate since I am willing to also get the OSRIC and the Basic Fantasy RPG in harback too.

Well, I'm in Britain and my hardbacks arrived rather swiftly. But my German friends tell me theirs took quite some time to reach them.

re: Americanized English - didn't Ben Franklin deliberately change the spellings in order to differentiate americans as a group from the British as a group? He was a one man linguistic strike force!

And I would be very pleased to see the download of OSRIC 1.01. I own the 1st ed books but now I can tell my e-friends what to look at. :)

By the way, for the print version are you considering using the absolutely indestructible binding system used on the 1st ed. AD&D players' handbook? :)
