The problem is Germany has players in their team who don't run if their feet are on fire.

Even in Euro 2000, they were a shame for their jersey - and still they start.

Ziege is a bad player who must be the illlegal offspring of the football president; and jancker is the only one who knows that.
Otherwise, there is NO way to explain why better midfielders don'*t play, and why nobody talks about Neuville, a player who not only scored 12 doals in regular season (Jancker: 0) but who also made some important goals in Champions League. And he runs, and passes, and...

Bah!
I see Germany getting to a good start, but if they don't score within the first 25 minutes, they will lose. Afterwards, the players will just start to walk around the court. I have seen many games these past two years that went that way, and our team just can't stop it.
I don't particularly blame it on our young players, nor on Kahn (who would score the goals himself if he could). But some guys there are just playing for alibi.

And I won't even mention Hamann and his gambling debts... perhaps he bet against us?

Well, I got a little carried off. Sorry. But as you can see, in the last 4 years I have lost all faith and all sympathy for Germany.

Berandor
hopes they will lose.

Sorry for coming in this late, but let me put in some words.

About Senegal vs. France. Greatest upset ever? Puh-leeze!

Just a few that would easily rank over it:

1 - Brasil (at home) losing to Uruguay in 1950 final;

2 - Hungary losing to Germany in 1954 final;

3 - Netherlands losing to Germany in 1974 final;

4 - Netherlands losing to Argentina in 1978 final (Neeskens could have won the game in the last minute of regulation. Instead, hit the post and his team lost in overtime);

5 - Brasil losing to Italy in 1982;

6 - Brasil losing to France in 1986 (though this is as close an upset as it gets. France was a very good team too);

7 - Argentina losing to Camerron in 1990;

8 - Netherlands losing to Brasil in 1998.

And these are just the ones that come to my mind in a flash. Any research would bring other upsets of a greater magnitude than Senegal vs. France to mind.

About favorites. Argentina and Italy.

But especially Argentina. They are SO much better than everyone else that it would be a shame to see them lose (and I am a Brazilian. We don't especially like the Argentinians over here...long-time rivalry and all that).

But Italy has a team that plays a very effective, though bureaucratic, football.

I don't think Brasil has a chance, and I won't even cheer for my country.

I particularly hate the coach, who has imposed an european style of football on our team, has left Romário (still the best player in the world, regardless of FIFA elections - remember, in the past they chose Ronaldo twice, when Roberto Carlos was playing WAY better than him the second time around) here, for personal disagreements with him, and has called some very questionable players to the team, just because they play for european teams and make a tremendous amount of money.

Don't discount France for the second round. They will have Zidane back for the game against Denmark, and still only need to win with a couple of goals to go through, regardless of what happens in Uruguay vs. Senegal.

Today we will see what will happen in the Group of Death.

Yeah tell me about it. It is 7:30 AM here and I am up to watch the Sweden-Nigeria game with a few buddies of mine. Although I think we will win (if we play as good as we did in the the second half against England), the real fight is between Argentina and England. Those two are quite the teams when playing against each other... :rolleyes:

And now it's Sweden over Nigeria byu a score of 2-1, seen through by the golden shoe of Henrik Larsson. And the Group of Death claims it's first victim, with Nigeria now 0-2 with no chance of advancing. Now if England defeats Argentina...

I have to say I am disappointed.

Nigeria played MUCH better than Sweden in the second half, but just couldn't score.

So a really skilled and beautiful team goes down, while a boring team with a bunch of hardheads goes on.

Larsson's first goal was nice though...
