Fantastic!

I'd just like to apologise to Danny Mills :D

Seaman, Ferdinand and Butt were superb, the whole team played with purpose and coherence - so unlike the Sweden game. England have a habit of playing better against the better opponents, but so often it hasn't quite been rewarded with the result.

Roll on Nigeria.....

Hah! Better teams? I wasn't impressed at all how Argentina played for five cents. Remember that just because you have players in the 30£ mill range doesn't mean that they are a great team. The game today surely showed that. And remember, England hasn't beaten Sweden in eons. I doubt they will either. We will advance and so will you.

i was glad to see england go up 1-0. they gave a good show and deserved it. argentina won't win the cup.

And don't we know it! However, Sweden were also complete cr*p in the game against England, it's just that they got a bit better in the 2nd half, where England just got worse.....

I won't knock 'em too much though. Mjallby and Tofting might jump me in a dark alley...

No that is not it my brit friend. Sweden STARTED to play football in the second half which, of course, meant that your team got run over. There is no way we are a worse team. ;)

I don't know about Tofting since he is playing for Denmark but Mjallby who is actually smaller than me (hint, hint...), would be nicer than you would espect. Sure he would slap you around and such but I would have been worse... ;)

Seriously I do hope both Sweden and England qualifies. :)

Doh! (sound of self-administered head slap)

Mjallby is actually smaller than me

Checking with the FIFA site, he's about the same height as me, but lighter... Perhaps we could form a central defensive partnership for the ENWorld team :D

Now, England & Sweden advancing at the expense of Argentina would be a result. See you in the final!

Congratulations for the English Team.

They played very well, though Beckham was only a bit above average and deserved to get the red card for that elbow to Kily Gonzales.

Verón didn't play crap. He seemed lost, and Aimar was a reasonably good substitute.

Sinclair was a very fine surprise off the bench, and Cole didn't let Ortega do a single play.

All in all, a superb presentation by the Englishmen and a subpar performance from the argentinians, even though they deserved to score a bunch in the final 20 minutes, when England simply relinquished any attempt to attack and stuck its 11 players in the defensive field.

I still think Argentina will win over Sweden, and can't really predict the outcome of England vs. Nigeria.
