Sweden 2-1 Nigeria was the worst possible result for England. Unless we get a result against Argentina, the Swedes and Argentina can play out a convenient draw in the last match, and it won't matter whether we beat Nigeria 10-0.

I'm not optimistic about the game this afternoon; I've been having Danny Mills-related nightmares all week.....

I have to say I am disappointed.

Nigeria played MUCH better than Sweden in the second half, but just couldn't score.

So a really skilled and beautiful team goes down, while a boring team with a bunch of hardheads goes on.

Larsson's first goal was nice though...

Objectively I agree with you 100%. However, I'm now happy as a salmon! :)

Understandable. :D

Well, at least as far as salmons can be happy...

Oh, they can be very happy indeed :D But I guess most of the people I know will be focused on the coming England-Argentina (if I remember correctly). However, since I'll be taking the bus back to Singapore tonight, my dad will miss out on most of the second half. Sigh :(

Happy as a salmon is a Swedish saying akin to strong as a bull. I certainly won't miss England-Argentina. That game is interesting on so many levels. It dictates the character of the group (F), it's two highly skilled teams, there are underlying political implications and high profile players... It has everything!

And next...Spain over Paraguay 3-1. After almost giving the match away with an early own goal, Spain gets their act together to cruise to victory at the end. Spain does have this talent for shooting themselves in the foot though.

Very tense second half. Great game from England to defeat Argentina 1-0. Argentina had their chances but some great saves and a few long shots way to high saw England clear.
