[ot] Adkison looking for oversized miniatures

Found this on the Wizard's Gen Con thread:
Peter has asked me to check with the loyal fans on something he's interested in.

Would anyone happen to be acquainted with the folks who build/own those huge dioramas or oversized miniatures? He says he remembers, for example, a Star Trek (Star Wars?) space combat game with 3' long models. They were visually appealing and carried a high "coolness factor" and he'd like to invite them.

You can reply on this thread on the WotC boards. (Also a good place to sound off your GenCon peeves and suggestions, at least until the new website goes up.) The quote is from page 3.

Ugh, I saw them every year at Dexcon (and laughed at the Star Wars players- hahaha). Ugh, what were their names.

heh,

Since this seems to be one of the few sites on the web I can reach..

I will tell my oversized star wars battle anecdote.

I was in the miniature room to root for a buddy of mine- I think he was playing Blood Bowl.

The other half of this huge room had been taken over by the star wars people. They had a destroyer that had to be over 5 ft long.
All of the small ships were on poles- about three feet in height. I don't recall how the detroyer was propped up.

Nealy ALL of the people who wanted to play that- wanted to be on the bad guy side. So, there were around 20+ darkside players and about 5 players on the other side.

Every time the dorkside would do something good- they would all loudly begin to chant the darkside themesong.

Through out the day- you would pass, in the halls, one guy carrying one ship on a pole being chased by another guy on a pole being chased by a referee.

It was very silly, but fun to watch.

Well, Hong usually pops in to say, It's Adkison! .

I expect he'll be by eventually. :)

I'll have you know that I never respond to attempts to summon me. It's simply beneath my dignity, you hideous little man, you. Now fetch me my suede shoes, plaid shirt and check pants, I'm off to the duchess's ball.

Although I don't know why I'd want to be interested in this thread anyway. It's about some person named Adkinson. Which is not Adkison.

Just to repeat, that's

Adkison
