[OT] Blues Clues

Number47

First Post
My daughter is watching Blues Clues as I check out the boards. Every episode, Joe gets a letter. When he opens it, he says, it's "from our friends". Is there anybody else here who wishes that, just once, the letter would be from our enemies?

Another thing, doesn't anybody think that, just once, Bob the builder should just totally mack on Wendy?

Why is Dora the Explorer always wandering around in the wilderness? I mean, she's a little girl! She can't even get into her backpack on her own! Where are her parents?

Sorry. Been watching too much children's television. Don't get me started on Teletubbies (my daughters favorite).

At least Joe changes his shirt now and then. Man, Steve must have reeked! :p

How old is your daughter?

Until my schedule changed a few months ago, I used to spend the mornings with my 2 1/2 year old son watching PBS and Nick. I recall seeing Blues Clues reruns where Steve would get a letter and say "its a letter from our friends Bob and Chrissy" or whatever. I'm not sure when or why they dropped the children's names. Do you find Mr. Salt as funny as I do. Something about that tiny, spagetti armed little frech salt shaker makes me giggle. Its...odd.

Interesting thing about Bob the Builder. I work at a radio station. A while back, we got some Bob the Builder CDs to give away. I took an extra one home to my son. When we listened to it we found that all of the characters were British! My only guess is that the show is produced in the UK (it is a BBC production) and then redubbed for American TV. Why they would do that is beyond me. The funny thing is, if you imagine the characters with thick British accents the show somehow makes more sense.

The best thing you can do for yourself and your children is to only watch Spongebob on Nickleodeon.

If you want actual, entertaining cartoons, turn the channel to Cartoon Network.

:)

Neither spongebob nor teletubbies are allowed in our house.

Ever.

period.

Blues clues on the other hand is a great show.

No. 47, you're from Detroit? No wonder you can't imagine children wandering around -- I don't let my kids wander around the town home complex! When I was in Argentina, seeing kids all over the place wasn't so unusual, though.

Luckily, no one in our house has ever been a big fan of teletubbies. In fact, our kids are kinda heathen -- apparently, they don't even like Sesame Street!

My daugher is 14 months old. What is actually on doesn't matter to her much, unless it's Teletubbies. That she's crazy for. She does "Tubby bye bye" every time.

I don't actually like letting her watch too much TV, even children's programs. But, when daddy needs to get some work done, it's a big help. I work freelance from home (supposedly).

My sympathies. ;)

I know the feeling! Every freelancer today should try to either write or edit a document while their child is screaming or getting into things she shouldn't, while you have to clean the house, make breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and pay attention to the wife's war stories whenever she returns home.

And somewhere in all that mess you're supposed to have time and energy to write.

:p

This stuff isn't so bad.

My wife knew a little girl that only ever wanted to watch the Lawrence Welk show. Her parents would say, "Do you want to go play, do you want to go to the park?" And she'd say, "No, I want to watch Lawrence Welk!" She was 4, I think. Drove the parents crazy.

My daughter loves "Skinnamarink TV", done by the venerable Sharon, Louis & Bram. We taped a boatload of episodes when my son was 1, and now I'm glad we did. She loves it!

My son loved blues clues, but he's graduated into: Dragonball Z, Samurai Jack, Transformers, and loves the movies: The Hobbit, Harry Potter, and Star Wars (all of them). The problem is that he is only going to be 4 this november.

I agree, Bob should bend Wendy over Lofty and do his business. It's so obvious she wants it that it's not funny. Remember the Cowboy line dance one? I thought I might have to scramble for the remote control when I first saw it with my son who was only 2 at the time.
