[OT] Florida Mayor banishes Satan

John Stewart on Comedy Central did a piece on this about 3 weeks ago.

The correspondent started asking the Mayor questions like:

"So how are you going to enforce this?"
"How do you tell if Satan has entered your town?"
"Why?"


The mayor did not have a real sense of humor (actually she seemed to be feircely proud of the whole thing)

This is the scariest part. She seems to think that she is some sort of pharoah-like primeval god-king of Inglis.

Does this mean that Inglis is now going to win the "Safest Town In America" award?

Or does it just win craziest?

I don't recall any mention of a group of Satanists in Inglis in any of the articles I've read on the case, but I do remember one that said there were "several teens who were dressing all in black and painting thier faces white, a style known as 'Goth'." I can't recall which story had that snippet, but I've been getting most of my info from Google (here is the search thread I've been using, searching under "Inglis," "Florida," and "Satan").

This is obviously a ploy to avert suspicion. What it really means is Old Nick is actually in full control of the town and its people.

Is this for all demons and devils, or just satan himself? What if you are a half demon and half human are you alllowed in the town? How about a quarter or an eighth ?

Can satan sue for discrimination?

Well, good for the mayor!. Satan is such a whiner. "God won't let me take over his job... waah, I'm rebelling!" "God kicked me out of Heaven - does he think he owns the place?" and "God screwed me, so now I'll corrupt his creations, that'll show him!" Satan is all waah, waah, waah. Lord of darkness? Ha! More like "Lord of the whiny martyr complex"!

No wonder evil is so banal with a loser like him as its embodiment. Satan, you suck. Grow the hell up.

Well, at least she still said, "elected by the people." I personally think that the REAL reason she's doing this is because Satan was the Candidate in the opposing party last election. This way, she's ensuring herself and the rest of the city council a clean sweep in the next election.
