JACK CHICK TO MARRY CAROLYN RISHER!

The long time holy comic book writer finally has found someone just as holy as him.

"I just knew when I heard that she had succeeded in banishing Satan that she was the gall for me" Chick joyfully exclaimed when we caught up with him outside his Florida Conference on the evils of happiness.

"I mean come on, anyone who in a single statement manages to do what Christians have been trying to do for several thousand years deserves to have someone like me"

We managed to catch up with Carolyn Risher in between town meetings but we only got a few minutes of her time.

"You see I've just been to busy to really give it much thought. I've managed to get Satan but I'm not done yet. By the end of the month I hope to have drawn up plans to banish Beelzebub, Tiamat, and maybe even Asmodeus. And Jack keeps telling me about the wonders of banishing this Dungeons and Dragons thing. I don't really get what it is but I don't think he would lie to me. After all we are blessed in the light."

We left our conference to the chorus of mocking insults from the black dressed Goths that scarred us.

Salutations,

Wow- first NAMBLA, and now Satan- the ACLU sure picks its battles.

It is a good thing we don't have any serious issues in our legal system that need to be looked at.

It might be nice if such glory-hounds could just let the small community deal with the issue and vote in a new mayor if they want it changed.

Of course, I can hope that the courts might tell the ACLU to shove it with their imaginary "seperation of church & state" ideal, but that is just wishful thinking.

Or politicians could stop cramming their particular brand of religion down people's throats. That could work too. Those darn ACLU types, always fighting for people's rights, even when it is unpopular. Sheesh.

Well, good for the mayor!. Satan is such a whiner. "God won't let me take over his job... waah, I'm rebelling!" "God kicked me out of Heaven - does he think he owns the place?" and "God screwed me, so now I'll corrupt his creations, that'll show him!" Satan is all waah, waah, waah. Lord of darkness? Ha! More like "Lord of the whiny martyr complex"!

Or so God says at least. But the account is pretty onesided, its just God proclaiming how he's soo powerful and everyone must worship him and Satan's such a meanie. I reserve judgement until I can hear evidence from all sides.

Oh come on! It's obvious that the boards aren't back up to speed yet when I of all people have to say this.

Satan got the shaft!

Anyway, the real question is, did all of the Harry Potter books disintegrate after the speech, or are they still around?

What about all the people who dont believe in the Christian god? Will they get the protection for free, or is it reserved for Christians only? And without Satan, will this mean that everyone will be good people?

This is the one of the worst cases of decadence I have seen in my life. With all the education, money and communications today, the rulers still behave as uneducated town preachers. Sigh.

(Note: This goes for all the Western world, Im not USA-bashing)

I don't recall any mention of a group of Satanists in Inglis in any of the articles I've read on the case, but I do remember one that said there were "several teens who were dressing all in black and painting thier faces white, a style known as 'Goth'." I can't recall which story had that snippet, but I've been getting most of my info from Google (here is the search thread I've been using, searching under "Inglis," "Florida," and "Satan").

Adding "Goth" to your search brought up the article reference to Goths...

"The proclamation is not a reference to a single event, Risher explained, but an overall sense of concern. She speaks of drunken drivers, fathers who molest their daughters and people who steal from their neighbors.

"Town Clerk Sally McCranie, who signed the proclamation, offered another observation: Kids in town, she said, have taken to dressing in all black and painting their faces white, a style known as Goth."

What cramming is happening here?

Is there a law forcing people to go to church? get baptized? sign the proclamation?

What rights need fighting for?

The national constitution talks about congress not passing the establishment of a relgion. Congress is not involved and there is no "seperation of church and state" in the constitution.

So, what about the florida constitution? Well, they might have an argument there-

There shall be no law respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting or penalizing the free exercise thereof. Religious freedom shall not justify practices inconsistent with public morals, peace or safety. No revenue of the state or any political subdivision or agency thereof shall ever be taken from the public treasury directly or indirectly in aid of any church, sect, or religious denomination or in aid of any sectarian institution.

Well, this proclamation doesn't establish a religion since there is no civil enforcement.

Nor is it prohibiting or penalizing the free exercise of religion.

The only argument they may have is if they used tax dollars to create and put up the silly signs.

But if that last issue proves baseless, then there is always the first section of the florida constitution-

All political power is inherent in the people. The enunciation herein of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or impair others retained by the people.

If the people of that community want this, then let them do it.

As for the ACLU fighting for people's rights- ha! They fight for a select few rights- and usually only the most controversial to get their name thrown about. And after the NAMBLA issue- they are not fighting for rights- they are protecting criminals.

You know, I'd say that mayor is being pretty damn heretical. I doubt any priest would ever claim they had the power to simply tell Satan he couldn't go somewhere - Jesus Christ, maybe, being the Son of God and all.

But some mayor somewhere thinks she has the same authority as God? I can't imagine that going down well with a lot of serious Christians.

:P
