[OT] Good taste, bad taste? Take a look at this promotional campaign...

Hmm, interesting at the least.

I don't think I'd mind it so much if not for the serious look/feel of the website.

As a set of pamplet inserts in gaming magazines, it could be a bit funnier.

But it did what it was supposed to, get interest in their new game. Course White Wolf marketing just slipped a notch imo, but then again it's hard to best 'Game Till It Hurts'...

I found that to be terribly demeaning, and I am more than a little sad that White Wolf would stoop so low. I do not think that I will be buying anymore White Wolf products, nor the products of any of their related publishers. I urge you to join me in this, and while I doubt it will make any difference with their legion of loyal fans I don't mean to give anymore of my money to a company that behaves in this manner.

What's terribly demeaning about it?

I find Jack Chick terribly demeaning to me as a roleplayer, an athiest, and a free thinker. Anything which makes fun of that preachy SOB is fine and dandy with me.

Hell, even if I wasn't an athiest, chances are he'd piss me off. Buddhists, Muslims, Catholics, Native Americans, Blacks, Hindus, we're all going to hell according to Jack!

And I still think Blackleaf should have asked for a saving throw.

You find him demeaning as an atheist? I find him demeaing to me as a Christian! You don't know how many misinformed gamers I have to educate about the fact that no, Chick does not represent anyone's views but his own and a small body of his wackos-in-arms.

It's bad enough having this tripe circulating around at the behest of someone who beleives it, let alone having it circulating around under false pretenses.

What's worse, I think that this tract actually has the potential to be WORSE for erstwhile would be young gamers than the chick tract. All Chick's tract promises is that if you game, you'll learn spells and become involved in the "true occult". Many parents have sufficient faculties to deduce that is a load of crap. But now, paint a picture of games that encourage rampant drug abuse and sexual permiscuity, and you are suggesting that it is related to a very real problem in America today.

Well done WW. Well done.

I'll certainly be standing in line to pick up a copy of that game. It's about time someone pushed the envelope again! I really feel sorry for people that fail to see the black humor potential in something like this. Now...what kind of demon do I want to be ....

Maybe they could really push the envelope and make a site about terrorism and how one should go out and blow up buildings and such, but it ends up being an add for there new game.

Just because something 'pushes the envelope' and has 'black humor' doesn't mean that it is a good thing.

Are you joking? Seriously, I can't tell. Your signature comments about the deleterious effects of a closed mind, and your name is a kind of oriental demon. Yet you don't sound tounge-in-cheek, in the above quote....

Jack Chick is a pathetic, undereducated bigot. His opinion isn't worth a pile of steaming dung, and is therefore too unimportant to be demeaning to anyone. The best response to him and others like him is to ignore their fascist bleating.

Are you joking? Using a mythological creature's name as a handle is supposed to be as bad as creating a damning track under false pretenses that has the very real potential to make life more difficult for young gamers and otherwise cast gaming in a bad light?

Salutations,

It just appears that WW is applying the same level of quality to their advertising that they do their game design and art. haha.

It is just a reminder why I have never been interested in purchasing any of their products.
