Before this gets really far out of hand, could you please provide a direct link to Harlan's original post?
Copying and pasting just doesn't do it for me and I can't seem to find it on his site.
If this is an April fool's joke, it is in truly poor taste. If this is serious Ellison himself supposedly stated, Locus isn't exactly the New York Times. So just how many people are going to read about it whether or not it's right? So why go out of your way to post this message all over the 'net?
From what I can tell, right now, this just stinks of some sort of urban legend in the making or bizarre attempt at creating a meme.
However a google search reveals that there is a lot of information regarding Asimov's death linked to aids and it's revelation as his true cause of death in Jeppson's forthcoming book (It's been a good life). It's even reported in the SF Chronicle, but the date was April 1 which always makes me cringe. The same information appears in Locus' online site and SciFi wire. So maybe he really did die of the disease.
So are Ellison and Jeppson complaining that Locus is reporting a "cover up" of the information? Or is the information patently false?
Interested, but need more info.
