[OT]Jason X - Comments?

Jason is a classic, figure of horror. He's your basic, unstoppable, unkillable, indestructable monster. The classic boogyman, like the terminator, he won't stop coming until he has killed you. He never shows emotion, no fear, pain or shock. Just exists to kill. The concept is far more interesting than any of the actual movies.

There really isn't much to spoil about the Friday the 13th movies. Add bunch of teenagers, some lame excuse for Jason showing up again. Sit back for an hour and a half as the halpless teenagers get slaughtered by the hockey masked Jason as he kills them in various brutal ways while they futilely try to fight him off.

The details and the actors change from movie to movie, but there really is little difference between them. It's simply an exercise in coming up with different methods of slaughtering teenagers. The end is forordained. Until the last 5 minutes of the film nothing any of the characters do will accomplish anything more than slow him down slightly and they all exist simply to be killed.

If you want a good horror film try the first two Hellraiser films (after that they get dumb).

This was the single best movie of the year. A subtle masterpiece of superb acting and drama. It's plot made me weep with joy and showed me how beautiful the world really was.

But of course it's too good to get even an oscar nomination.

Actually Hellraiser Inferno (5) was VERY VERY good. Its very philosophical and theological on what Hell REALLY is ...

Friday the 13th - Legends revealed about Jason drowning as a child. He was a 'special' child. Kids were off drinking and having sex and let him drown. Mommy Vorhees was pissed they let her son drown so she took vengenc on herself and started killing the counslers one by one because 'they were all bad'. One girl at the end of 1 killed mrs vorhees by beheading her.

Friday the 13th II - The girl who killed Mrs Vorhees is slaughtered by an unknown person. The camp is reopened and the body count begins. Amy finds Jasons shack with his dear mothers head on an alter. She barely survives. We see jason wearing a pillowcase with a hole in the eye. We see his deformed face.

Friday the 13th III (3D) - A girl comes back to face her fears as she was attacked by Jason some years before but he never killed her. He kills a fat kid named Shelly and takes his hocky mask. At the end, he is left hanging from the barn and an axe is put through his head (where he got the axe mark that was on the mask so many years)

Friday the 13th part IV - A young boy, Tommy Jarvis, finds out about Jason (as he has this obsession with boobies and horror movies) and confronts him. His mother dies at the hands of Jason and he kills Jason good. He goes insane.

-=10 years pass=-

Friday the 13th part V "A New Beginning" - Tommy Jarvis is a teen now and entering a psychological rehabilitation place. A teen with anger problems kills another teen with an axe. Jason begins his rampage once again but its revelaed that the ambulance guy was the one killing people under the guise of Jason b/c his son was killed bythe teen with anger issues.

-=10 years pass=-

Friday the 13th VI "The Final Chapter" - Tommy Jarvis is an adult now and he and his friend go to dig up ole Jason to make sure hes dead once and for all. Hes been having nightmares. They accidently bring him to life and set him amok on Camp Crystal Lake again. In the end, He chains Jason to the bottom of the lake where he cant get free.

-=18 years pass=-

Friday the 13th VII "New Blood" - Tina Sheppard used to visit the camp as a little girl with her family but her dad and mom got into a fight and with her telekenitc powers, accidently killed her father by collapsing a dock with a bridge. He was pinned under the water with good ole Jason. Now shes 18 (she was 8 when she killed her father) she goes back to try to bring him back but instead accidently snaps the chain freeing Jason. She blows him up at the end.

Friday the the 13th VIII "Jason Takes Manhatten - Supid and had no tes to the original plot.

Friday the 13th IX "Jason Goes To Hell" - Revealed Mrs Vorhees used Necromancy to try to bring her son back but failed (little did she know). Its also revealed only a Vorhees woman can give birth to the form of Jason (as his body was possed by a demonic spirit. If the spirit enters the birth canal of a living or dead vorhees woman, he will be revived). Only a vorhees woman could ever truly stop Jason.

Friday the 13th X - Jason X - Doesnt explain how he got out of Hell but it does keep with the plotline.

It was a wonderful cheese filled camp fest.
I went in expecting such and was rewarded.

This movie is humor not horror. The myriad ways Jason kills people is immensely humorous. This movie is incredibly tongue and cheek, and I guess people like it that way.

On a humorous note this is what happened when I was trying to get tickets last night.

Me- "Two tickets for Jason 10"

Cashier - "What"

Me- "Jason 10"

Cashier - "Changing Lanes?"

Me- "NO, Jason 10"

Cashier- "OH, you mean Jason x"

Me- "......... X is the roman numeral for 10"

Is there one with a super hero? I vaguely remember Jason fighting a superhero....or was that Freddy....

I think you may be thinking of Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - Dream Warriors. That's a Freddy movie where the main characters can conjure up alternate personas for themselves in the dream world where Freddy exists. one guy is immensely strong, another a master of magic ("I don't believe in fairy tales kid" Freddy says as he tears the 'wizard' in half). One of the better Freddy movies (alteast better than 4-6 blech!).

Also I thought Jason got his mask in #3? This is going way back in my memory (which is not a god thing ;) ) but I know he had it for #4 as that Tommy kid distracts Jason by knocking his mask off.

Most significant about this film is that its cast includes Lexa Doig, better known as Rommie/Andromeda from the TV show of the same name. And THAT is significant because...she's a gamer! She lists her hobbies as, "reading, reading, reading... and playing RPG video games. I love Dungeons and Dragons, but can't do that without other people."
