[OT] Just how old are the IC forums?

I was indeed in the Iconics, as Kazak, the dwarven psion, and before that as a hanger-on NPC priest. Not the highest profile roles ever, but it was great fun :D

Using the "Wayback Machine" the earliest post I can find in the In Character forum is 06-01-2001 (perhaps the first Iconic post to be made to the IC forum). That said, I've not looked too hard, so there could be earlier posts.

IIRC, the IC forum was set up about two or three months after I arrived at the EN boards (Feb 2001 if anyone's interested), and initially was mostly used for improvisational, rules-light or rules-nonexistent threads along the lines of the Iconics, Paladins of the board Unite! and The Drunken Phoenix Tavern. I think some of the tail-end of the Pantheon stayed in the IC forum for a bit as well, before moving on to NKL.

Quite a nostalgic trip, this :) I'd almost forgotten some of the IC highlights that started the ball rolling.

Jarval - you played Kazak - that's right!

That Wayback MAchine link is fantastic!
What a trip - the Pantheon was integral in getting the Forum created.
According to Eric Noah's post:
Why? When the elder gods of the Pantheon decided to take a break for a while, I got a message from Cyberzombie asking what I thought about having a forum for in-character roleplaying. I said "Stop stalking me!" Then I said "Good idea." So here it is. It's a place to get silly but in character. As always, keep it clean and civil.
So CyberZombie pulled the trigger on it - I forgot about that. Neat.

Reading that Iconics!! thread, it reminds me about how on-the-edge it was. Makin' it up as ya' go along...
