[OT-NBA] NBA Playoffs

I am not sure who to cheer for, as the Chicago Bulls of today have very little in common with the Phil Jackson era. I do understand how the Lakers fan feel. I watched a little of the game, and caught the score in the fourth quarter and could not believe it.

I think the Lakers organization will need to do a lot of introspection and rebuild. As I like to say, the worst enemy most of us face is the one in the mirror.

Dagger, good to see you on the boards. And it is GREATto have EN World back up.

Lakers are out.

YES!

That's about all I can say.

I've always thought they were overrated despite the three titles. They would have gotten whooped by the championship bulls any of those seasons.

Darke you are clearly an excellent fan and student of the NBA, keep up the good work. ;)

As for Duncan owning them, we'll see. The Mavs have what it takes to go all the way, it's just a matter of their intuitive defense* kicking in at the right time.

*Intuitive defense is my term for a team without a great programmed defense, but with enough talent to sometimes mesh into a meddling and dangerous defensive unit. In the Mavericks' case, it's just a matter of the other team being in awe of their shooting, as the Kings were tonight. :)

A few thoughts.

I'm sorry to see the Sac-Dallas series over. It was the most fun I've had watching a series for some time. Both teams play a fun brand of basketball and it would be nice to see other teams picking up on this.

For all that, I'm still thinking the Spurs will be tough to beat. They have a better inside game and better consistent defense. But Dallas's defense is pesky and their offense is amazing at times. This isn't a series I'd want to bet money on.

Time for yet another round of predictions:

Nets over Pistons in 6.

Spurs over Mavs in 7.

Nets over Spurs in 7. :D

(Yeah I know it won't happen but I can dream can't I...)

I'm picking the Spurs over the Mavs in 6 games.

I think their home court advantage and more rest will really help, plus they were pretty impressive against the Lakers, especially in game 6.

Seeing as how the Spurs-Mavs series is the default NBA championship, as far as I'm concerned there's nothing else to pick.

Come on guys the East is still playing too. Why does everyone I talk to think the Nets will roll the Pistons. The Pistons have taken 25 of the last 28 games from the Nets. The match up are pretty good defensively and the Pistons don't let people run on them too much.

Piston over Nets in 6
Spurs over Mavs in 5

Then I get realistic and notice how badly the Spurs wiped the floor with the Pistons because Duncan is a total match up problem.

Spurs over Pistons in 5.
