[OT-Rant] What is UP with Talon Comics??

So few people reach that level that it can hardly be used as a fair standard of today's corporate environment.

Actually, you prove the Kaptain's entire point with that statement. For a point of reference, try the books Thick Black Theory (hard to find, and few even know it exists, very few copies survived, and I had translators turn down the job after reading selected paragraphs) or Thick Face, Black Heart.

While this thread is not about business strategy (and that is a good thing) it is about a good guy who has hit hard times and has turned people away (inadvertently, of course). I am sure he means well, and after seeing Derek's posts for some time, I know that he is a well intentioned person. I will not buy from Talon not because I think he has ripped anyone off, which I seriously doubt he has. The fact is, your check is cashed, you get the goods, be it a game or not, it is money at the root of the issue. Bad things happen to us all, and it is a pity that the man's personal life has taken a turn for the downside.

I wish him the best, and it is good to see people rally for him, but I will be one of those looking elsewhere to spend my money.

I see a lot of people are very strong in their views on this subject of corporate America...let me tell you something, Paladin and myself are both ex-military, I'm a military brat, we've been all over this country and we've been outside it...We've seen more crap than you can imagine and especially when dealing with people and companies ...

Businesses don't care whether or not you get pickles or cucumbers on your hamburger, people do....businesses don't care that you have individual needs, people do...businesses don't care that you have four children with you, a half an hour to be somewhere, and you haven't eaten in 12 hours, people do...Derek is a people and so are we all...

Someone on one of the other threads asked us what makes our business different, well, your looking at it...we are human beings with human needs and so are our customers. We look at every one of them as an individual, we make relationships with them when possible, find out about them if possible, and we give them a more personal product because of that...

You don't get the "business" side of our company, you get the personal side, and that is what you get with Derek as well...it may seem like poor business to some of you for us to go through Derek at a risk of losing business, but for us, for now, it is a decision we are proud to make as people, as Texans and as Americans. Let's not lose sight of the humanity of our great country, but you also have a right to happiness, and if you are not happy with Talon, then don't use him, but treat him with respect, because we all deserve to be treated with respect, and in saying this I apologize if anyone was offended in my previous replies to these boards...Paladinwife

Please pardon- I misspoke.

There are so few people at that level or contending for that level. A majority of the people who make up corporations are not going to ever try to reach that level- for many reasons.

Well, I for one think more of you for it.

And you certainly won't lose my business.

Thank you very much, by the way, look for our 15% off grand opening coming soon (we just got to figure out how to implement it on the site!):D

Who needs excuses anymore? There are many people who subscribe to this and see it as the natural order. It's not an excuse to them, it's become second nature. We don't start out like this, so it's the society we've created that is largely to blame. The media fuels it. Who's the most popular guy on TV ever? J.R. Ewing from "Dallas", that's who! What a role model, LOL, though I must confess he is fun to watch. But not to do business with!

What the hell? What do the people who "see it as the natural order" have to do with this? My point is that the fact that they do it isn't an excuse for anyone else to do it, Paladin included.

Heh, you know, Tiefling, comparing your posts here to your posts in the discussion finding humor/ridicule in the death of a teenager is kind of odd..

I am not trying to pick a fight with you- just saying you certainly got me confused. :)

I would advise that you should get your dice bag business handled by someone else, if you can't get your own site up to handle it.

All this negative attention surrounding Talon Comics will hurt your sales (how could it not?) and some of Derek's "stigma" (consumer distrust/ill will) may rub off in people's minds, who may confuse your business with Derek's, hampering sales down the road.

Kantrip, please. As a long time customer of Talon's (since he started posting on these boards), I know that the recent lapses/delays in orders are *not* usual for him. Talon has a very good reputation in my mind. If you're new to ordering from him, then yes, his recent troubles are going to look bad, but for those who've delt with him for a long time no such stigma exists.

WOW!!

I just wanted my order to be sent and my emails to be answered.

Simple enough, right??

It's frightening that what started off as a late night rant transformed into a philosophical debate on life and is now my most "successful" post to date (in regards to the number of responses).

I think we're just stressed out because we have yet to hear from WoTC on the Setting Search.
