What did Darth Vader *do* that was evil.
He didn't order the destruction of Alderaan; that was the admiral trying to demonstrate the power of the Death Star.
He choked a few Imperial Navy officers to death, but those weren't nice people.
He "tortured" Princess Leia, but oddly she revealed nothing of import. Perhaps he only pretended to have her tortured and revealed what he already knew to the Admiral to preserve her life.
Sure, Darth Vader threatens people a lot, and he has a horrible reputation, but what does he *actually* do that is evil?
I've recently rewatched Episode 4, and am slowly working through Episode 5 and 6. So far, I've only seen Vader do a few things which were passively evil...
... which brings me to my theory.
What if Darth Vader had turned to the darkside, then later recanted, but had no Jedi left alive to support his return to the light. Perhaps he actually HAD brought balance to the Force and was looking for a way to redeem himself by destroying the Emperor, but needed to wait until a suitable candidate to help back him up had arisen.
