Is it too late for me to also mention I come from good ole Perth, WA as well. Wow, 3 Perth-ites here. Must be a record for an international message board.

Although I don't think this post will put my post number into double digits yet. Even if I have been registered since the beginning

hi Binagran...

I was beginning to think NoOne & I were going to be the only Perth posters from now 'til eternity... but I'm happy to be proven wrong...

On a practical note, how many ENworlders are going to be attending Arcanacon over the Australia Day long weekend?

I may drop in to CanCon instead, though it has been growing more and more pointless for years to do so.

And by the way, I'm an Aussie.

While we're on the subject, does anyone here live within an hour's drive of Kempsey, NSW? Say, between Taree and Coffs? Because I'm moving there in four weeks and I want to get in touch, even if with gamers who aren't seeking gamers.

Regards,

I've never been to a con. I've been curious but every time I delved into it, I got confused and scared; gamer geeks in costume can do that to a person :D

When is the Australia Day weekend? (can you tell I'm a patriot?) What is Arcanacon like? Do I have to play a game or is it like SexPo where I can just wander around and enjoy the sights? Do gamer geeks in costume go, 'cause they're scary? :D

Me too! Me too! I count...even if I am in the largely forgotten part of the continent!
Actually, over the last year or so I've been noticing a HELLUVA lot of Perthians in the news, on tv, in my games... it's almost as if there was a mass exodus of 20-somethings from Perth who immediately took over strategic positions for a hostile take-over!

Gigi Edgely is a Perthian... and damn am I proud to call her Australian... I just wish she was single...

The con runs from the 24th to the 27th of January, as Eternalknight mentioned.

I've only been to Arcanacon once before, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. That was last year.

I can't comment on SexPo :) but you don't have to play games if you don't want to (though I recommend that you do!). I think that the non-playing entrance fee is $5 (to cover insurance costs). Playing is $6 a session.

All prices are in Australian dollars, of course.

There are usually a few people in costume, but most dress in daggy jeans and t-shirts. That, or all black. Typical gamers, in other words.

Check out the website. It's http://www.arcanacon.org for those that missed it the first time.

Brisbane's annual convention is the BIG Weekend. It's in about four months. Website's at http://www.thebigweekend.com ... though there's not much there yet.

I could go on with details for Conquest, Necro and Maccon, but that should do for now :D
