Packing for the Under Dark what to take

I must insist that the scroll of Mass Heal is compulsory.

then: vs the poison... that's a tricky one... but mainly depends on which version of Drow Knockout poison is your DM using... (Ours uses the DC 17 variety, in the city of the spider queen... at lvl 11 we still have some fear for those darts).

then... hum... dunno :p

I agree- it would be a great thing to have, problem is that we don't have those kinds of resources without hurting ourselves to buy said scroll.

Side note here- after twenty odd years of gaming I must admite that I have little experience with Drow. I see in the DMG that there are poisons listed with Drow in the name, but aside from that I didn't know they used poisons. Was just recently told that their arms and gear or some of it disappear or turn to ash or something in day light (?)- something else I didn't know. THis all works to my characters favor I suppose as Drow are mythical in the campaign- oh, aside from the Half Drow we have as one of our group members, but she speaks nothing of her past and little of that as a Player.

This should be interesting. ;)

Driz’zt (though not Drow, sorry DJ you made the character :D )

Actually a very bad assumption that Drizz't had anything to do with the idea for this character. He is in fact an elf who uses a scimitar (the only comparison to Drizz't) who was raised by Wolf Nomads (Baklunish) from the north. He's a Unfettered-Dervish. No levels in ranger, no silly panther statue. Knows very little about the elven society (he speaks the language but broken and gutteral at best). Excellent as a horse-mounted warrior. Doesn't follow any god from the elven pantheon. This idea actually evolved from an idea for a Persian variant on a Monk who used a scimitar (Indeed, if anything, I'm guilty of being inspired by the Prince of Persia video games). I got side-tracked however as you can tell by what it eventually became.

-As for magical equipment, we have at least 3-4 bags of holding in the group.
-I had been looking at anti-toxins and thunderstones too.
-The signal whistle crossed my mind, but the chalk thing I had not thought to much about.
-Maybe give em each one red and one green chalk piece(signifying good or bad areas as well as directional).
-I was thinking of taking a lot of extra rations (most of them in a BoH) and equiping the troops with about 5-7 days worth each and then using the Cleric (10th level) to cast Create Food and Water daily (feeding 30 people with each daily casting) and thereby saving the food for any extended duration we may incur as well as any slaves we liberate.
-Smoke sticks would be ideal for retreat as it tends to be confined and would make it hard for the Drow to take pot shots from a greater distance.

As for upsetting the Drow, that's the plan. Revenge and rescue are the dual subtitles of this mission. My character actually dislikes Drow immensly (killed his family and caused him to be orphaned in the mountains near the Wolf Nomads lands southern border)

Going into the Under Dark with a group of 11th level characters, what do you take with you either mundane or magical gear that everyone should have?

Everburning light sources as well as Sun Rods.

Food though we have Create F&W from our cleric.
Wear sunscreen.

get the spell casters to focus on buff spells, any and all mass... versions of spells would be great plus with so many people about blink and mirror image would be handy as well as other illusions but try to avoid directly targeting the drow 'cos SR is a B...ch.
let us know how goes :)

Spell Penatration is one of my Wizard's Feats so that will help if I need (caster level 13 with the SP Feat). I however will take your advice and avoid as much as I can the use of magic on the Drow, unfortunately we have no Mass buffing spells (lots of 3e spells floating about, and very little 3.5e- this is by choice with the group).

I have only heard that he's a twin Scimitar welding Drow, beyond that have no knowledge of the character. Oh, and Coyote6 made the referrence once that Sumiir was much like the Drizz't character.

Might be less then that, with Haver Sacks taking the lead there. My character has a Belt of Many Pockets, Frost has a BoH and a Haver Sack, while Akordia has just a Haver Sack (AFAIK), not sure about the NPCs or Sumiir but the GM has said the NPCs are full up, so they can't help (his excuse to not figure out their gear.

Cost scares me off of the latter there, and restricts my thoughts of Anti Toxins to the PCs.

I had thought about both (one was mentioned here, and you liked the other from previous campaigns)

Lets just draw all over the walls (graffiti)- "Sunners live better." "Drow suck mushrooms." "Drow are just Elves that never bath." And such, no one is going to go around cleaning all the walls- "dammed humans, always leaving a mess behind."

Really wish we had a chalk that was invisible to Dark Vision. :\

Ya, I was thinking at least 3 weeks per person, so if we rescue a mob we have food for them too- just in case, my thought is- 'better to have and not need then to not have and need.'

Not a bad idea. I will add them to my list.

About sums it up. :)

Darn it - that's what I just thought when I saw the thread :D

Glad someone else was thinking that Shil. :) I'm certainly glad they'll have Driz'zt character but him not being drow might complicate things...

Him not liking Drow will definately.

So I guess if I'm gonna be a knockoff of him I should request the GM give me a Jaguar or Cougar statue that turns into a side kick. Man I should complain to the GM about getting gipped with that Bronze Skull that blathers incoherently and only makes sense in Pandemonium (stupid Zagig and his insane attempts at greatness!!). :D
