Paragon Multiclassing: What am I missing?

I think it's in that huge thread of custserv responses, but the powers gained from paragon multiclassing count as powers of your second class.
'Your second class' is apparently interchangeable with 'your class' when replacing lower level encounter & daily powers with higher level ones (upon leveling up).

Although I've largely given up keeping track of custserv responses, since they fail at consistency.

This is correct. I'm the one who got that customer service response.

So one advantage of paragon mutliclassing is that you can 'trade up' what would have been your paragon powers for higher level powers in your second class. You can't do that with paragon path powers.

That said, it's really only an increase in flexibility. In order to trade up powers from your second class, you have to forgo trading up powers in your primary class.

At any rate, that does get you a lot closer to a 50/50 split by the time you hit level 20. Minus class features of course.

I really think the bang for your buck in multiclassing is being able to combine powers from very different classes. I think it will result in some pretty cool synergies that aren't available otherwise.

But, as always, your mileage may vary.

I know for a fact that as a fighter, +1 to hit on every single attack roll I will ever make till the end of my epic career is priceless ... no paragon multiclassing is going to beat that.

Well, its a good thing no paragon path features give you that ability.

Funny that you picked Astral Weapon as an example, which is almost universally considered the weakest Paladin PP, to make your "point." There is NO Lv. 7 Paladin power I'd take in place of Champion of Order's Certain Justice, the Hospitaler's Warding Blow or the Justiciar's Just Radiance.

As for Utilities, None Shall Pass and Strike Me Instead are both great and probably better than most Paladin 10s.

You don't end up with a level 7 paladin power, you switch it out.

Your spellbook allows you to know two utilites per level, anyway (three with a feat), you just have to change them with an extended rest. But aside from that, Arcane Rejuvenation (Battle Mage) is awesome, and Sudden Storm (Spellstorm Mage) is a solid tactical spell that has some nice uses both in and out of combat.

I was under the impression that spellbook was just for dailies and not utilities.

And you don't get the spellbook ability if you multi-class into wizard.

No, same type as in "bastard sword."
As in when I bought my +4 vicious bastard sword, I didn't sell my +3 vicious bastard sword, 'cos at 20%, what would be the point?
