D&D 5E (2024) PAX WotC Dungeons and Dragons speculation thread.

There's no evidence that Wizards is intentionally using generative AI at this time. A handful of artists did lie.

There is evidence that the marketing by WotC is working
That's Google Trends for the four games in the image. D&D's recent spikes are product releases. It does fade late summer, which isn't a surprise because of the release cycle.

I am sure the mathematical business case is that Imstagram posts and Beyond articles were just as effective by themselves as with Todd's meaty preview videos.

Still makes me sad.

Im considering the Eberon booking coming out as a player facing book. I know it has some monsters, but I think the new class/species/ and player option are the main draw. Even if you dont agree I still think they can dip into the splat box realm.

My understanding is its softbound. I expect it wont be the only softbound book they try. Maybe im miss remembering and its a slim hardbound?
I'm going to comically assume thst nobody has corrected you on this instead of reading down, but...actually this is a hardcover book. There have never been any paperback 5E books, aside form box set inserts, and no reason to expect any in the future.

However, more to your point, we have the table of contents for Forge of the Artificer, and it is about two-thirds DM facing material, like Adventure and Campaign stuff.

It may be that they don’t have anything to market - they are clearly having problems with their manufacturing and distribution. They don’t want to be marketing for something when they don’t know when it will hit the shelves.
They are actually extremely active on social media.

Whi h, to bring it full circle...what are you seeing out there, @darjr ? I know you didn't start this without some insights.

Heroes in the Borderlands
Stranger Things
Forgotten Realms
Eberron
Dragon Delves still
New Core
+ the Fallbacks (comics and books), holiday deals on the back catalog, new official accessories, shirts via Target, new Beedle's accessories

I've seen stuff from Wizards about all of this
I work in publishing and I'm a huge D&D nerd and I've seen zero advertisement for the fallbacks; where are you seeing it?
