I'm fairly familiar with Planescape, actually, and there's no way to get a god into Sigil. In one of the Finder Wyvernspur books, Finder got into Sigil, but 1) that's not canon, 2) he's barely a god anyway, 3) he did it by dropping all his divine energy and going as a mortal, and 4) he just about got shredded anyway.

The Lady of Pain has a couple vague guidelines for being in Sigil. Don't worship her, don't threaten her city, and no gods allowed. Violations tend to get shredded or mazed (like the maze spell, see, only it's much, much more difficult to escape). Once, a god of portals named Aoskar gained too much influence through in Sigil, and he was killed and his temple got crushed. It's now the Shattered Temple, HQ of the Athar, who believe, basically, that the gods are just really powerful people who don't deserve to be worshipped. The Athar cast divine spells without gods, anyway; they draw on something they call "The Great Unknown."

www.planewalker.com has good info on the Athar and the factions, and they're gonna release a big thing on Sigil pretty soon (this month possibly).

We could be representatives of a god, though, maybe running an "errand" (of the divine scale) for them. Maybe finding someone or something, maybe negotiating with a faction about the faction's influence on the deity's home plane, or something.

My thought was to use Sigil as more of a base than as an area of operations. If you'd prefer a city-based campaign, that's fine, but it'll be more intrigue and less epic.

Not sure if anyone is curious but I just got my copy of Bastards and Bloodlines in the mail... Looks like more unique characters are in my future. :D

Although the manuals are more expensive than the enhancement items: 137.5k for +5 versus 36k for +6, they are well worth the price for both flavor and game reasons.

From a game perspective, the nice thing about inherent bonuses is that they are extraordinary and don't go away in an anti-magic field or if someone throws a dispel magic or a mordenkainen's disjunction at you. Ever have to fight Trolls and Giants in an anti-magic field?

From a flavor perspective, you may wear your cloak of charisma while traveling on the road, but you don't want to wear the same cloak while eating dinner with the King or while in bed with a member of the opposite sex.

Endur: seems alright to me, if not underpowered. The manuals really aren't the most cost-effective way of doing it, though I agree they do approximate the flavor better.

COuldn't agree more with Endur if I tried. :)

Oh I thought more on are group’s purpose but still haven't thought of anything that works with us knowing each other for 10 levels...

Maybe a Mysterious Character(tm) forcefully summoned us from our respective places to entertain him/her/it? It placed us inside a labyrinth, forcing us to combine our strengths to overcome the challenge. And even though we, in the end, managed to escape the labyrinth, we never found our capturer.

Stupid question time... Does the effective level bonus stack when you’re dealing with turning undead? Like Sacred (+2) Phylactery of Undead Turning (+4)

I'm remaking my armor and finishing my pregroup background...
